Heās LOVING ChemE. Took Maymester last year to get a hard class out of the way. Was brutal, but helped him this fall.
He was not top 10%, but had very good GPA. He was in theater and tennis as well.
He had a lot of dual credits when entering, so came in as a 2nd semester sophomore (credit wise). He started his first year at UT in the higher level classes with a lot of sophomores and juniors. (He was in a group of freshman that were similar to him as well, so he has friends his own age/year).

He had a strong SAT score, but not over 1500, if I recall correctly. (Iāve been sick for 2 years so those details have left my brain)

I have a question. In December, a UT admissions officer reached out to our high school counselor to verify some information on my son and another student. She said UT AO told her this related to a full ride scholarship but did not give her any more detail. Then, we never heard anything back and my son was not contacted directly. He did get an invitation to apply to 40 acres scholarship a week or so later. So, I am wondering if all 40 acres applicants get verified or this is completely unrelated. Did you guys have any similar instances of UT reaching out to verify info?
40 acres scholarship is not processed by admission, but the Texas Exes (alumni). So invitation and admission decision are not related.
The one who reached out to high school is Texas Exes, not admission. Most of the time is just verifying the data (EC/rankā¦) in application.

We looked up the name of a person who reached out on UT website and he is an admissions officer. My son reached out to him and never got a response though.
I was thinking maybe AOs verify some info sometimes before referring a student to Texas Exes. Could this be the case?
