UT Austin Class of 2028 Official Thread

I have it

I read somewhere that most decisions that come out Feb. 1st are rejections. Is that true?

I feel like I’ve seen a number of parents and students debunk that, reporting that they received their acceptances at the very end. So, keeping up hope till the end. But
Tex Admissions does also have this:
2021: Mon, Feb 1, 6PM: “AllCAP and OOS rejections go out; nobody gains admission. It was a blood bath.”
2022: Fri, Jan 28, 6:40pm: “UT released the main decisions, of which virtually all were CAP/rejections.”
Also, I tried to edit my prior post and add but it wouldn’t let me: In 2022, on 2-1 Tues, Tex Admissions said “many honors decisions went out.”
Here’s his blog. I know many have already posted it before:

I think TexAdmissions blog is very good and informative in many ways, but the post about there is being a blood bath at the end of January, just can’t be true. He is saying, there were small batches released on various days in November, December and January and then virtually no admissions at the last release in January, this just does not seem right. Where was the large wave of admissions then? All the kids in my high school last year (7 of them or so), received their acceptances on January 30 last year.

Who has heard back from Moody? Has anyone heard back from RTF?

I agree
I feel like his info is based mostly on instate decisions. We are OOS and all the acceptances here last year came on Jan 30

Just to clear up, all the kids I was referring to in my previous post were from in-state 6%.

that makes WAY more sense!

I can’t imagine that decisions that come out on Jan. 30 are all rejections for In-state. I know plenty of in-state people who haven’t received decisions yet. I don’t think all of them are rejects.

Yes, sounds good to me! Waiting to find out if my auto-admit daughter got her major. Thanks for everyone’s input. Good to luck everyone!

It seems to me that there has yet to be a true “big” wave of decisions, particularly for OOS. UT appears to be a “pseudo-rolling admission” school without any relation to when an applicant applied. Their website says by 2/1, so I gather the rest of us will hear by then, one way or the other. Silly to continue to speculate at this point seeing that 2/1 is only 9 days away.

This year, a lot of kids (more than 10) in my son’s high school (in state) are still waiting for their UT decisions. None heard from UT yet. They can’t be all rejects - most are within 6% of their class.

Ours too! In state - no one has heard - autos included.

i have it. What does that mean?

Anyone heard from non-auto for computer science? Ik I’m not getting in but I still want my decision.

3.5 GPA (freshman year/COVID screwed me, I explained this), 1430 SAT, 30 ACT, play football, orchestra, student council, Boy Scouts (almost Eagle scout, Order of the Arrow), president/founder of computer science and cyber security club, good essays and LOrs

Yesterday someone at my school was accepted.

I think he is right relatively speaking. AS UT does not give any rejections before the big wave, and the acceptance rate is about 30% (including auto admits who were already admitted to UT) , most (not all) of the decisions on the big wave might be rejections. I hope I am wrong

Instate or oos? Major?

2 kids that I know who were not in top 10% were admitted on Jan 30th last year.
Going by that, I am still thinking all admissions/ majors that were not released till now will be released that day.
My only issue with all this is why is UT releasing those small waves since just before Thanksgiving. Is it to build up their hype? Why can’t they just decide that they will release all decisions on one day and do it.

we have not yet.
