UT Austin Class of 2028 Official Thread

Yes, the student can decline, but it states very clearly that there are no reconsiderations. That year it was weekend, then around 12 days later the first batch of finalists were invited. There was a deadline for the of 4-5 days (?), then the next group was asked, deadlines, and so on until all the invitations were issued. So it was essentially yield management along the way to getting a full class. The first invitations were issued around March 10 or 12 and the last that we knew of were issued around April 8ish. The finalists all had a group text, so they all knew what was happening with each student who chose to reveal their status in the process.

We are yet to to still understand the entire procedure and I am not finding any details anywhere. So far she has only for the invitation for an interview being chosen as one of the semifinalists.
What next? There seem to be a finalist weekend at the end of February? So they have multiple rounds of finalists as they reject/select students? Or multiple rounds of finalists as they keep picking as they go? and then they select from each lot?
Honestly we never even thought that she could be selected and we never looked into it.

I feel as if we are all in the same line waiting for Taylor Swift tickets at midnight 3 days beforehand! Too bad they don’t have a coliseum for us all to hang in til Decision Night where we could play cards and eat pizza and do each other’s nails and scroll through our Reddit and Facebook groups toGETHER! Hope EVERYBODY gets in!!! Hook 'em.

I would feel better if I knew when they were going to come out. The secrecy around this is very bad.

I’ve been following this thread, but this is my first time commenting. My daughter is in-state, auto-admit, but is still waiting on the decision of whether she got into McCombs or not. She was trying to get her application in for EA, but ended up applying for RD. That ‘change the world’ essay threw her for a loop! We are anxiously waiting for the decision release!

I second this. My oos d got her decision on thursday at 6pm in 2022
