UT Austin Class of 2028 Official Thread

Thank you so much! We wanted to make sure before to take any further steps. I had written to the scholarship dept’s email they had provided asking the same question and now this is the reply I received:
“If a student offered a Forty Acres Scholars Program spot after the conclusion of the weekend and accept, they are accepting both the scholarship and attenidng the University of Texas at Austin.”
This sounded to me like it is going to be a commitment. But i could be reading it wrong.

I think the key word is ‘conclusion of the weekend and accept’ which means you accept the forty acres scholarship. But you can be offered and not accept the scholarship.

Anyone getting the Error 500 this morning?

Nope

Just going through the interview does not mean you are choosing UT Austin.

If your student is chosen for the Forty Acres Scholars Program and then accepts that scholarship - then you are accepting both the scholarship and the offer of admission from UT Austin.

Do you have that error?

I don’t see it. A few users on Reddit said they had this issue

Makes sense. Thank you.

Yes. Thank you.

People on Reddit are speculating a wave today… thoughts ?

I don’t think so. There probably won’t be another wave till the big one either this Friday or next Monday.

I think the decision will drop on the 1/30 or 1/2

A student was offered 40 Acres last cycle. They sent an offer after the weekend events - a few weeks later. It was termed as a binding contract. Idk if it would hold up in court, but it read like that.

How many people are applying to the college of education, and if so, what major?

Most likely it will be released on the 30th. I am going with that…

One time I saw the math, when we looked at the auto admits, recruited athletes, OOS & international admissions, there were only like 2200-2400 offer spots left for all the rest of in-state applications. Then take out some for the uber private schools that don’t send in their top 6% (they are out there), comparatively, it could kind of look like a blood bath.

I am assuming that it would mean - if the student accepted the offer the student would be bound to attend UT. But the student could also decline the offer?

Its the timeline of decision too and I do not know how much time they give. We have until May 1 for the other schools.

Your student can just ask how the process works. 40 Acres Scholars is a wonderful program. They really do get access to excellent opportunities and a lot of support for travel, etc.
