Showing status as not admitted.
I am not sure what it was showing before
Same , before it was showing “complete”.
Is this the case with everyone? Please check old dashboard everyone and update here.
Or does this mean we r “rejected”?
same for me
@mommabear27 what about you?
An international student on Reddit confirmed that student can see RIS and WIO update now
The conspiracy theory i have is that they actually use low merit $ as a tool to cull the auto-admit herd. A few cycles ago there were 13700 autos who applied to UT and by law must be accommodated even though the typical freshmen class only has 9000 for auto+nonauto+oos. How do you deter that many when you must admit them? You offer a large group undeclared cola instead of their desired business/stem major. That takes care of a significant number. The high high stats kids will go off to much more elite places like MIT and CalTech and ivys. That leaves a group of autos who maybe got into their major at UT (or not but still want to come and attempt transfer) but they look at the nice merit money from UTD or UTSA or even maybe TAMU where a high flyer can at least get NMF merit money and the practical sides of them just cant fathom walking away from a better deal and great education even if it is without the big flagship bells and whistles. Cant wait to see how many autos applied this year for those same 9000 seats. Next year I bet they break 100k applications total.
No change.
good conspiracy theory
Decision here, International, rejected
Rejected
Most kids who are smart enough to get into GT are on Zell Miller for free tuition and I would assume all of them qualify for Hope. Texas and UT are much, much wealthier than Georgia. UNC has average tuition and fees almost half of UT In State AND they have more merit. Florida is about as close to Texas as you will find (similar size, ranking, and also had 90k applicants this year) and their tuition is about half of Texas for In State and they have programs like Bright Futures and merit scholarships making it so that it is even less expensive.
It’s also not really “their” choice, they are a Public School and are accountable to the Legislature and the People who fund them. They just choose to make it more expensive for the people that pay the most in taxes even if they are often the most qualified. That’s something Private schools tend to do but Texas (and A&M) are outliers as top public schools. The fact they are the 2 richest Public schools makes it worse.
BTW, Graduate students are also far more likely to be OOS or International students than Undergrad.
Just tired of paying decades of taxes and my kids get shafted because I pay a lot of taxes and not because of merit. That may be “how it is” but I do think people need to realize how badly A&M and Texas are out of synch with other states and how much more we are paying than we should. Also, most of the Research money the schools have is from Federal Grants or companies not from the State. Just like every other school. Texas gets $37 million from the State for Research which is a whopping 3.5% of the Research spend.
This happened to my daughters friend this week - in state, non auto admit, got decision changed from CAP to accepted in engineering. You can’t appeal anymore but you can be put on waitlist is my understanding. This girl had not put herself on the waitlist, it just changed
I’m sorry.
They were not CAP’d or waitlisted, they were straight up rejected
Auto admit by Class Rank in a State that graduates over 400k students per year is lunacy. Certainly you can make it a strong factor but making it Auto is crazy, the math just doesn’t work for UT or A&M. That’s why other states don’t do it. Admission to the UT and A&M Systems? Sure, but not to UT and A&M. In California you can get admitted to the UC System but not Berkeley or UCLA for instance.
Pros and cons to living where one lives I guess. I will still take Texas for many many reasons over where I am originally from in New England any day of the week (although the property tax structure is crushing here). I cant complain about the research money since I was paid to get my masters there with it, yes there were many many intls but a good number of Americans too - even women in engineering like myself. Had to fight hard for that spot though!
Is my son the only kid still waiting?
Agreed. Auto-admit is not sustainable with these numbers. CA is an animal unto itself. My nieces/nephews had to go oos and private but were better off for it. Landed where they were supposed to.
Omg still no answer even today???
Fingers crossed you get your decision soon! This is crazy for you!
Very crazy. I asked on Reddit and no one has responded.
