@hoospls yes definitely. I did not know how much happiness does affect your academic life until last semester. I was so miserable that I couldn’t focus on anything but finding ways to transfer out, which in the end hurt me j guess haha. But yes I am praying that they give me a chance and see some potential in me. I hope the best for you as well and hopefully we’ll all get to call ourselves Hoos by Monday!
@LaVolpe haha yeah I know NS is brutal. Was it the course load that made your gf not pursue?
@lexie101816 what major are you? How were your essays? How were your recommendations? Overall you seem just like any other candidate here. Try not to focus so much on what you did in HS. The more you are in college the less any of your accomplishments there matter (even awards).
@uvahopeful101 what was it about W&M that made you fudge up?
@plsplspls I applied to Arts and Sciences as pre-commerce but at Ohio State I designed my schedule to fill the transfer requirements for U.Va (I kind of went in at the beginning knowing that I was going to try to transfer). My essays were strong as were my recommendations. In college I have continued my dedication to service and volunteer weekly (2+ hrs/wk) at Columbus’s Children’s Hospital.
@plsplspls the atmosphere here is just not pleasant. It’s continuously stressful, like you can feel it in the air. And being voted as top 5 schools with the worst grade deflation doesn’t really help either haha. It’s also very small and I want a bigger experience. The city itself is designed for older people, so for college students we are limited in what we can do for fun. It just doesn’t fit me and my personality. I knew from move in day that I wouldn’t be happy here and I gave it a couple months and I just seemed to get more miserable.
@lexie101816 well then you have a decent chance. Stay confident. Just remember its hard to chance people. Everyone here has 3.6-4.0’s in college with a plethora of volunteer work to make themselves look presentable. So what it really boils down to now is who you are as a person. If you truly believe that you yourself are worthy, then you probably are under consideration as we speak.
@uvahopeful101 Damn… well I hope to hear that you got accepted, you definitely have been through enough; no one deserves a lame college experience.
And this is coming from someone whose been at a little CC for 2 years (
Thank you so much @plsplspls!
@plsplspls honestly though, I wish I went to NOVA haha. I would’ve had a higher gpa and probably had a better time at home than at W&M.
@uvahopeful101 You know, I know nothing about the colleges in Virginia. Honestly, I had always planned on going to UCSD or Berkeley because im from San Diego. Ive been to Charlottesville 3 times to see the campus but thats it haha.
@plsplspls oh wow you’re out of state! That’s awesome. Charlottesville is amazing. I love it so much. Is uva your number one?
@uvahopeful101 Not really, I moved here from California to take care of my grandpa so I am actually instate, though I do go back home every summer and winter (: I have already gotten into USD and my friends already want me to move back home, but its not that simple. UVA is my number one of course! Hopkins to me is just bragging rights, ive really always wanted one of their sweatshirts haha and their pediatrics is really second to none.
@plsplspls if you do get into uva and Hopkins and with USD, where would you end up going
@uvahopeful101 Man… It would have to be UVA, a majority of my friends at home are all frat stars, I could never focus, and it would be the exact opposite at Hopkins, I would sit in the library pulling my hair out to compete with people who have lived in the library all their lives. I really do enjoy a challenge and a bit of fun, so UVA is the perfect medium!
But remember that Southern California is one of the most beautiful places to live in the world :((
@plsplspls I was just about to say that! I couldn’t leave the west coast, especially Cali. That would be hard hahaha
I have a question for everyone… On the common app, when you sent your professors recommendations, did you also have them send separate recommendation papers to the school?
UVA is so beautiful!!
@plsplspls my professor was unable to get on the common app recommendation page so he just sent a letter
@plsplspls UVa cannot receive letters through the common app for transfer students.
If you sent them that way they didn’t get them.
