UVA Fall 2015 Transfer Thread

@plsplspls I believe that she would announce the release date way earlier if decisions were to come out tomorrow. So just be patient and wait till 30th/ May 1st!

@puncherkid I know… but a man can dream… :((

EVERYONE LISTEN!

I just went onto the blog and transfermer finally answered some questions!

"Anonymous who doesn’t like getting sidetracked,
I like your style.Please make up an alias next time. We are not releasing decisions tomorrow. We almost always release decisions on a Friday. Our website publishes May 1st as our release date. May 1st is a Friday. We are not sitting on decisions to make you wait. We are actively working to have all decisions released on May 1st.

Fran,
Historically, we release on Fridays. Sometimes that’s on a date in very late April. This year, May 1st falls on a Friday.

Uvahopeful,
We are not releasing decisions tomorrow. We’re releasing decisions on May 1st. "

There you have it folks, May 1st is the day.

Also as of the 23rd

“We are still reviewing hundreds of files at this point.”

@plsplspls I really hope that they could release decisions that are already made…

Hey everyone,

I just wanted to let you all know again that I do have a spot in Bice for on-grounds housing if any male wants to live really close to grounds (especially McIntire) and the corner next year. Transfers usually get put into Copeley or Hereford which are both really far away.

If you applied for on grounds housing and you are accepted to UVA the housing office will offer you a spot in one of the on grounds housing locations. If you want to swap that spot for my spot in Bice you can’t accept that offer right away. They give you a week time frame to consider their housing offer so instead of accepting right away you would have to email the housing office saying you’d rather have my spot and I’d have to email saying it’s okay. The housing office would then swap your original housing offer to my spot in Bice.

Let me know if you have any questions about it or if you’re interested in taking over my spot. Also feel free to ask me any general questions or McIntire related questions.

Good luck everyone!
Pete

Focus on your finals, folks. UVA or not, you owe it to yourself and parents to ace that A’s … Ace it, ace it! :wink:

UGH THAT GREEN CHECK MARKHB#KNEMQ#RBE@KJDNWR#EJ I THOUGHT MY DECISION WAS READY OMFG

No check mark for me still. Just got wait listed at W&M for whatever that’s worth though.

@LaVolpe surprised you got waitlisted, better than a rejection anyway.

@plsplspls There is certainly a margin of error to be had in admissions so I’ll just hope I get a better result from UVa next week.

@LaVolpe haha yeah, stay positive we are both instate so at least we got that going for us. I don’t think you were meant to end up at W&M anyway since your girl is at UVA.

On the other hand there’s like 3 people in this thread that applied to Cornell so we do have competition /:slight_smile:

Not to say everyone on here isn’t a worthy applicant though haha :smiley:

@plsplspls I think the irony is that both of us live within three minutes of W&M.
I guess we’ll see what happens, hopefully I don’t just get straight rejected from UVa because that wouldn’t be super encouraging.

@LaVolpe So you only applied to those two? I’m guessing Roanoke is your fallback since you’re already going there.

@plsplspls If I manage to not get into either at all I’m going to do the guaranteed admissions process for the remaining classes I would need.
It is also important to note that the tiny portion of people that even know about CC, let alone comment, tend to people with much higher chances.

@plsplspls Although we do have the benefit of being in-state, considering that 54% of in-state applicants were accepted last year.

@LaVolpe now that’s a crazy statistic it makes you wonder, you know, uva is a top ranked school, you would think with the rigor of academia that most community college kids are used to (since I think they make up a majority of instate transfers) would not have the ability to perform, yet their retention rates are crazy high!

Could it be because of the guaranteed admission?

@plsplspls
Well keep in mind that the yield rate for instate is 82% so not everyone ends up going.
And, to be fair, the classes they take at CC are directly equated to a UVa course that guarantees the rigor. Plus, entry level classes tend to be nonsense wherever you are so they don’t lose much by not being at UVa (or wherever) their first two years.

The main reason for the acceptance disparity, in my eyes, is the 2:1 instate to OOS ratio that they must maintain.

@LaVolpe any idea what the yield rate is for OOS?

@plsplspls A fairly unimpressive 50.8% last year.
