I hope so too but historically, Wisconsin only released on Fri/Sat…occasionally on Thursday. I am also getting this creepy feeling….hope it is not a repeat of 2022!! Please prove me wrong!!
My daughter’s high school appears to have 3 people that were accepted off the waitlist for Madison. All of them are College of LS and in-state. I do not know when they got off the waitlist all I know is they were committed to a different school and changed to UW within the last 6 days. Hope this tidbit helps anyone.
Does anyone have speculative stats on those who have been accepted off the waitlist? My daughter, OOS had really strong ECs and 1480 SAT.
Your daughter sounds more than qualified but I’m not sure stats matter that much at this point. Wisconsin is filling gaps in their class. Maybe all else being equal, higher stats might help?
What is your daughter’s intended major?
Hopefully, they have a gap needing filled by an OOS secular homeschooled, critical thinking, hardworking, delightful girl who grew up on an organic sustainable farm; with a double degree holding hippie teacher mother and GED only carpenter/artist Dad; who wants to study kinesiology to be an athletic trainer for a pro sports team; because she has only very good stats.
If they are smart they will create extra space for her. Good luck!
Aerospace engineering.
Just a thought, on Wisconsin parent page they are saying that people getting in now are waitlisted for housing. If so many people on housing waitlist that feels like maybe their yield is higher than we are thinking…
I wonder if that is waitlisting for specific residence halls based on student preference?
Here’s a snippet from the housing letter my son received:
P.S. I had him check his diagnostics this weekend and he does now have “Preparing for SOAR” in his meta data
I’m not totally convinced here but anything is possible.
My understanding is if you had an acceptance, your deadline for housing was May 15. But they extended a longer deadline for waitlisted students that were offered spots. It doesn’t seem too weird to me that they’d want to hold some spaces and see how wait list works out. ETA, I believe they also extended deadline for some students who didn’t have a financial offer yet as well. Those students are only on the waitlist because they missed the deadline. Housing hasn’t been assigned yet, so there’s no way to know how truly “full” it is.
If I had a kid on that housing waitlist now, I personally wouldn’t have them signing a lease or picking something up until housing was assigned out and they were not assigned. But my kid has been in Madison 5 years and there are almost always spots and sublets available at any time.
That said, it’s totally possible after last year they made some corrections on admissions on got closer on their numbers. I just wouldn’t read into this too much.
Mine is still on waitlist and has ‘preparing for soar’ in diagnostics as well. We haven’t checked it fir a month or more so not sure when it appeared.
My son (who was admitted off the waitlist on May 17) had until today to submit his housing contract.
Ok, I am on the school counselor email list for UW Madison and I had to go back and look. The FA waiting students have until the 31st to accept their spot and sign up for housing (hopefully that means all FA is processed at this point?). So the whole FA debacle may have slowed down the waiting list movement. Which I am sure has housing behind as well.
People do get called up off the housing waiting list every year and they may just be more sensitive to having spaces for waitlisted students while they get through this messy admission season.
Where do you find diagnostics? Maybe I don’t see diagnostics bc I’m looking at the portal w my phone.
Do we still think there will be more rounds of kids getting off the waitlist?
Based on @KaylaMidwest’s report that students with Financial Aid offers have until May 31st to commit to Wisconsin (as opposed to May 1 last year), I think there’s a really good chance we’ll see more off the waitlist soon.
However, it might not be until the week of June 3rd .
so are we thinking no new wave this friday?
If I was Wisconsin, I would start a new wave as soon as possible and they REALLY like making offers on Fridays.
Has anyone tried leveraging your high school college counselor to get insights into what’s actually happening in the UW AO? It will still be limited information but UW will share more with them than students/parents. At this time, we just wanna know if it looks like a repeat of 2021/2022 OR the generous 2023 trend for the waitlist.
