Yes, the first episodes were on yesterday.
Everything we know about zombies is due to some writer or director’s imagination. I am hoping that if the world comes to an actual zombie apocalypse, the zombies are the really slow, 24-hour type depicted in “Night of the Living Dead”. And they can’t swim…
I’m a sucker for Walking Dead marathons - except for the season on the farm…
Zombie speed — very important. In the other comic serious, Z Nation, the Zs are very fast…they run. Much bigger threat.
One of the dilemmas for FTWD, I think, is that viewers were expecting the slow roll out of the apocalypse and a glimpse into how ordinary people reacted as the structures and institutions we take for granted fell apart. But to do it gradually, as I would have preferred, would have had many others tuning out to cries of “Boring!” So they have Los Angeles falling into chaos in what, 9 days? Pretty unlikely even under the nightmarish scenario that the dead turn into killing and eating machines. Unlikely that is if the Zs are slow, which they are in this franchise.
For some reason, the creators didn’t want to do a show that would have unfolded slowly, like a long running soap opera with occasional zombie appearances, and a broader cast of characters. We could have been watching this particular blended family saga, as well as some other groups in various neighborhoods from poor to affluent, but we also could have seen more behind the scenes of the institutions trying to curtail and control. IMO, the military and police should not have been depicted as cartoonish thugs/imbeciles who fall apart at the very beginning.
Isn’t it more logical that the military in each area would have first shored up its own defenses ---- in my small city alone there is a Naval weapons base with residences and a Joint Forces training base both walled and fenced with razor wire — then perhaps joined with police and volunteers to hunt and destroy walkers? This while the numbers are not yet in the millions.
Or at least to have been able to fall back behind their walls and provide safe haven for any city dwellers able to fight their way there.
I guess if it went that way, it would seem to similar to the original WD, which yay, is back on this Sunday.
How long was Rick unconscious in the hospital? Couldn’t have been too many days. Or he would have died from thirst/empty IV.
New season of Walkind Dead tonight!
I enjoyed it. And it really brought home to me how abysmal Fear the Walking Dead was by comparison.
I enjoyed it too - despite all the commercials and some slow spots.
I especially enjoyed seeing more of Morgan and his bantering with Michonne.“Did you take one of my protein bars? I could have sworn there was one more peanut butter left.”
I hope he doesn’t get bitten soon.
Any guesses as to who is honking the horn? We thought maybe Father Gabriel with all his suicidal tendencies.
Agree with DonnaL, ready to erase the “Fear” episodes off the DVR.
Any guess about about the plane scenes and that guy who was coughing?
I bet it was the son of the abusive guy Rick killed. I liked it, didn’t love it.
Those plane scenes are part of “Fear the Walking Dead: flight 462” (or something like that). It’s a web series that will also be shown on TV during commercial breaks. No crossover between the plane scenes and “TheWalking Dead” but I heard that one of the characters from the plane will show up on “Fear the Walking Dead.”
Now I am watch Walking Dead with all of you. I have to admit, I like Fear better because things aren’t so hopeless yet. At what point do they just give up? Having the baby makes that less likely, but really, this is all pretty depressing. Rick doesn’t bother to shoot the guy, because he knows he isn’t going to survive anyway.
They need a better plan. Why is no one going after helicopters and planes to scout where a safe place is? and then transport by air? Or a yacht?
Didn’t they read “Lord of the Rings”? They don’t need to do this quest/sidetrek. They just need the eagles.
Of course, then there is no show. my bad.
On Talking Dead one of the commentators said the honking horn ‘seems’ like a bad thing…
Maybe the Wolves are at the gate and the honking horn drawing the herd to home is a good thing because the Walkers will eat the Wolves.
I haven’t seen all the episodes. Who are the Wolves? Please?
adding: never mind - it’s on Walking Dear wiki
now the question is - how different are they than Rick at this point in time?
“Why is no one going after helicopters and planes to scout where a safe place is? and then transport by air?”
Just “find” one, hop in and go?
They still have libraries and access to books. They can figure that part out. Also, when you end up in the zombie apocalypse, it really should be a priority to acquire a pilot for the group.
I am making my list for the end times: 1) pilot 2) sharpshooter 3)hunting skills 4)farming skills 5) mechanical skills 6) medical skills,
no particular order. medical should perhaps be #1
I don’t have any valuable skills. Thus I will need to be the organizer.
You know, aircraft are pretty finicky creatures. To engage in safe flight, they often require the services of an aviation mechanic, not to mention a quality fuel supply. Aviation fuel doesn’t like to sit around for very long. They just aren’t such a good idea for post-apocalyptic transportation. Maybe that helps shorten your list some.
okay, spoilsport.
hot air balloons then. My kids made some small ones at camp and it wasn’t even a gifted camp. I think even I might could figure that one out if necessary. Also, lots of drama. Oz allusions. This could be good.
Have you noticed that balloons tend to land at random locations? That could be inconvenient.
Maybe ultralights. Run off unleaded, pretty simple and should be maintainable by most pilots.
