Yeah, the “plan” to bring out and lead away the walker herd is a poor one to me because it was presented as a plan…something deliberately thought up. Better to have created the barriers along the road *in case *of horders of walkers escaping, but make attempts to greatly decrease their numbers while they were still in the quarry — agree with the barbecue idea…burn 'em to a crisp and they do stop “walking.” But to say, ok, let’s lead tens of thousands out on to the street is just kind of dumb.
I’m guessing that Glenn gets back to Maggie unbitten, but Nick doesn’t make it…he’s the zombie bait that allows Glenn to get away. That character is toast.
Lizardly, I agree: if you step back and look at the whole series, Rick – the nominal hero – is essentially the villain. It’s almost an in-joke, because it has to be deliberate. Every single place he goes, the vast majority of people end up dead. Hershel’s Farm. The prison. Woodbury. Terminus (no great loss!). That hospital. And now Alexandria. Just think how many people have died as a result of his latest hare-brained scheme!
By the way, Nicholas is clearly dead regardless of the walkers – he shot himself in the head!
I’m anxiously awaiting Sunday, so naturally this week feels like an eternity. GLENN BETTER NOT BE DEAD! Although, if he is dead then Maggie is now newly single… :-c
Damn them. I hate that I am this emotionally invested in what has happened to a tv character. It reminded me of the South Park episode that caused such an uproar where they were going to reveal Cartman’s father, but it ended up being a half hour of Terrrance and Phillip farting.
Last night’s episode was kind of boring and utterly predictable given Morgan’s transformation.
Because I prefer the parts of the story that deal with how people adapt, transform, deal with the aftermath of the breakdown of civilization, I liked last night’s episode very much.
The most interesting thing to me about Glen’s death scene (if that is what it was) was the imagery and music in that pull-away camera shot showing all the walkers descending on him. I have been thinking about that for a week now. What was that about? Any ideas?
@Magnetron - I could get all smug and self-righteous about caring for a TV character, especially since I don’t particularly like Glenn, except that I was heartbroken over Omar’s fate on “The Wire”.
I thought the actor playing Eastman last night was terrific. The conversation at the dinner table-- wow. He was so natural, so believable. So heartbreaking. Good stuff.
Even though it’s artistically fraudulent, I’ll totally cop to wanting Glenn to be alive. And also Omar. And also Li’l Sebastian.
I thought Eastman was a great actor, but so bored with the episode I only watched half of it and then read a recap. I think that’s the first one on WD that I’ve done that.
