admitted!
No for DD. 4.0 UW, 4.81 W (on 4.0 scale), SAT 1580, 12 AP’s (all 5’s, one 4), Math through Diff EQ, Science through Physics C (both), NM Finalist, strong EC’s & Recs. Oh well… LOL.
My S24 was accepted! Extremely excited.
Wow. No offense, I’m sure you would have wanted to get in. But those stats made us feel better.
Did everyone who got accepted do the optional interview?
yes - signed up for it in august and did it in october
Mine accepted but did not interview. (They were full.)
Honestly, it’s almost laughable & I hope others feel that way about their kiddos here or wherever. Thankfully, DD already admitted to first choice & actively making connections.
No, but did visit.
Yes. It was the only interview she did. (She checked “no” on every interview box…lol.)
Curious about what someone said above about how whether WashU typically accepts from the high school makes a difference. Daughter was rejected today. 4.0/4.65, 7 AP’s complete with all 5’s plus a 4, Nat’l Merit Finalist, 1590 SAT, State Seal of Biliteracy in French, rigorous schedule this year, really great essay, appropriate EC’s and volunteer work, etc etc. Acceptances received at very selective schools. I have learned by now not to be surprised at rejections, but still I’m kind of surprised. Then I was thinking about the high school thing. I doubt anyone from her school has even applied in the last 20 years or more. Would a kid be at a disadvantage because of this? It’s just a curiosity at this point and thankfully she has some other great options. Just trying to break it all down. Thanks for any insights!
I’m sorry. They sound amazingly accomplished.
I just posted a similar story! Strange times we’re in!

For those accepted: when you received an email to check the portal did it say “regardless of the decision we have enjoyed getting to know you”? DD is travelling and will wait to check all decisions until she gets back but I peeked at the email and just doesn’t seem like a great sign
Rejected. 102W GPA, 1510 SAT, strong extracurriculars, 6 APs
*admitted
I think WashU cares about yield. And that’s why if there’s a history of kids from your high school attending that school, WashU (or whatever school) thinks your student is more likely to attend. I don’t think it’s an issue with the very top schools (Ivys, most selective liberal arts colleges) or state schools. This is just my guess though. My kid was accepted with similar stats (but test scores weren’t as high, but also NMF).
