Yes I love how they’ve been interacting with each other on the chat. They seem like a really good group of kids. No amount tonight. The coordinator said that will come via email tomorrow.
Have any Rod Finalists been called?
I think so. I saw someone on Reddit say they got a call for Rod but it was pretty recent.
No call over here unfortunately for Ervin
I’m EST so although of course it’s not for certain it isn’t looking too great. Congrats to all the scholarship recipients!!
I’m on Eastern Time as well. I’m not sure what is the latest time they will/can call but I am also feeling this way.
can confirm, as someone on the groupchat everyone was hyping each other up before interviews and as calls came out! literally everyone has been super sweet
for @NiceUnparticularMan’s timeline for posterity: first person on the groupchat who reported a call was around 5:40 pm est (someone said they missed one around 5pm, but i’m not sure how precisely they were reporting). running theory is that it goes by timezone, and alphabetically by last name within that timezone, which checked out for almost everyone. the last call i’m seeing (so far) was around 8:45pm est.
there were roughly 55-56 people on the original instagram gc, and there are 23ish in the scholars groupchat right now, although i think some people have yet to accept the message invitation. would expect maybe 30ish total once everyone joins?
to be clear, the insta gc was shared on two of the ervin zooms, but there were likely people who missed those zooms and were not able to join. so numbers are probably a little off
Congratulations to her!
I’m so confused but so happy! I never received a phone call last night yet just now received an email saying I’m a full tuition Ervin scholar!!!
if you want to be on the gc PM me your insta!
I don’t use instagram unfortunately (me and social media don’t go well together) but I can’t wait to see you all in St. Louis!!
Congrats!!!
The above numbers must be divided by 4 as they are total scholars in the program. So WashU gives out roughly:
17 Danforths
30 Ervins
22 Rodriguez
So a total of around 70 scholarships which range from partial to full tuition from these 3 programs. I don’t know what percentage are full tuition.
Note: 11,000 applicants completed the scholarship application, from which 150 finalists were selected. For Rodriguez, 3,000 applicants and 43 finalists. If one makes it to the finalist stage, then they’re also admitted to WashU. One can apply to more than one of these 3 scholarship programs.
Any news on RD date?
Also, on the 3 Signature Scholarships, there’s a 2-day scholars admit weekend later this month where WashU will pay for travel expenses (flight and staying on-campus with a student) for winners from the U.S.
i’ll report back after the scholars weekend! i think there were roughly 80 people on the ervin finalist zoom, counting current scholars. obviously some people couldn’t make it to the zoom and/or didn’t join the groupchat, but that’s the ballpark of what i have for ervin. i can potentially ask at the weekend if y’all would like me to as well?
OK, so this is not very impressive so far, but I was expecting more from the portal.
I think for my purposes at least, it makes sense to cut off here, because everything after this is communicated directly to the Finalists and Scholars.
So the timeline this year, as I understand it (correct me if anything is wrong), was:
2/18 (Sun)-2/19 (Mon) Calls to Finalists (Signature) and Scholars (Academic)
2/20 (Tue) Emails
2/21 (Wed) Scholarship section disappears in portal
yes! i think emails were intended to come out on 2/19 but there was some hassle with the admissions office (based on a comment he made over the phone). it may be worthwhile to note that the calls to inform signature scholars of their decisions were by time zone and last name, so logically he may have done the same thing with the finalist round. it is one person per program making the calls to all the finalists, so it can take hours at a time i think
Just got an email saying that decisions will come out on Wednesday, March 20th. Good luck!
My daughter was deferred EDI and did not get an email should I be concerned?
Also quick question. When she was deferred she had to fill out an update form and then after she submitted the form the application automatically changed to saying regular decision. That means she is in the regular decision pool right? She didn’t have to start a new application?
