I was not able to access cc since early this morning

Me either. Site was down

Me neither.

Did this have anything to do with the problem that mobile users encountered twice last week when they were redirected to Twitter?

Someone killed cc. It’s clearly a retaliation against the greenies slaughter lol

We had difficulty with several different webites all day yesterday including CC. I just supposed that some were in areas affected by Nemo. It gives me hope to see that CC is back to normal. Perhaps the others will be soon too.

I worked out, painted the bathroom and flossed. Most produtive 9 hours ever. Thank you to whomever took it down…

You needed CC to go down to floss?

Yup all the others are functioning now. I’m blaming it on Nemo.

LOL – riverrunner! I didn’t even notice but I was on a flight home. Sure glad it’s up now.

Found this in Community and Forum Issues from Roger (a moderator).

This weekend’s CC outage
Over the weekend, we had a couple of attacks on CC’s forum via a vBulletin exploit (these forums run on vBulletin software). For short periods of time, code may have been injected in some pages which could trigger a malware alert, redirect the page, or cause other issues. We’re still investigating the details, as the symptoms varied. Our tech staff worked many hours over the weekend to restore service fully and in a secure manner.

If you accessed the forums in the last few days, be sure your virus/malware checker is up to date and scan your machine as a precaution.

We are confident that the site is now safe and secure, and we apologize for any inconvenience. Thanks for your patience during our outage - we know how many people rely on CC, and restored service absolutely as quickly as we could.

I wish they would post a notice such as this ^^^ on every page of the forum or as a PM to everyone or something - that is legit info that everyone needs to know and my guess is that most people don’t make a habit of visiting the “Community and Forums” board on a regular basis!!!

CC was hacked. They’re barely going to acknowledge it let alone broadcast it.

IMO it is their responsibility to let users know that they should run virus/malware scans. No one asked to be hacked, but good business/customer service is to remedy it/offer precaution for all and move on.

So I’m a little slow when it comes to the implications to these types of things on smartphones that have no malware/antivirus protection. What are the risks. For example, I tried to enter CC on my iPhone and got a msg telling me to login. Not totally out of the ordinary, every once in a while I have to re-log in. I entered username & password. I got a message saying it was incorrect. I thought, darn you small iPhone and my fat fingers…foiled again. I entered the information again (NO LECTURES HERE!) and got a message saying it was incorrect. It was here I realized something was up.

Sooooooo, am I to assume that my username and password has been compromised/lifted/phished and I need to go around changing anywhere I have used either of those. I changed my password here on CC, but what about places I’ve used the same password? There are no other accounts that use the same combination of username/password…in fact the username is used nowhere else. Again, no lectures needed, just information would be helpful.

No lectures here, BI. I’m curious as to what others have to say though. I’ve been using cc exclusively from my phone as I refuse to compromise my laptop. Cheaper to fix phone than computer lol.

These are all very valid questions and concerns. It does sound like CC was hacked. This is becoming increasingly commonplace. I strongly feel that we need to tackle cyber security problems before something catastrophic occurs.

disclaimer: i really dont know what Im talking about

I honestly believe both my itouch and my ipad have been compromised.

MOWC discusses getting the malware “FBI” virus that takes over your computer on another thread. SHe needed IT to fix it. Its not an easy fix and can get around most malware programs.

My biggest problem is that email is open on both these devices and does not need a password to read anything. That combined with any virus leaves people open to fraud. I am no expert but this is a big problem.

So my plan is to have apple (if they will) wipe them totally clean before hooking them into my computer and starting over.

Flash has also been hit with a virus that effects apple products just 2 days ago.

So google virus, ipad, flash or java and let me know what you think.

Don’t tell me my ipad and itouch can’t get a virus. That at least is now proven false for sure.

Go see Roger’s thread. Last I looked, some say there was a redirect to twitter. I don’t know that BI’s logon issues mean he/she was compromised- I am guessing CC pulled our logon connection, as soon as it realized the threat to posters.

Last week I was redirected to Twitter on two different days when I tried to login to the CC forum. This only happened when I was using my iPad but not my desktop computer.

The Twitter page had a picture of men playing cricket in front of a mosque. Is this the usual picture that appears on Twitters home page?
