This is wonderful to hear! Seems to be a trend among DePaul folks - they love it! Did your daughter live on campus at all? I was hoping for more of a residential campus, but I’m encouraged to hear your daughter spends time at LP, wherever she lives.
Syracuse ED I hear is hitting email inboxes. My student did not apply ED but congrats to film students who secured a spot!
Yes, she lived in a dorm the first year. Now she’s in an apartment right across the street from DePaul, with two roommates. I, too, was hoping for a more residential campus, but she didn’t seem to care about that.
I forgot to post a while back that DePaul Honors acceptance came back shockingly fast maybe 4-5 days?
If anyone is wondering about response time.
My son was also accepted to DePaul and Ithaca, Deferred at LMU. Chapman is his #1 but I doubt he will get in due to the low acceptance rate. Waiting to hear from Chapman, Emerson, Syracuse, RIT, UT (we live in Austin), and NYU. I also think DePaul would be perfect and we are going to their admitted student day on Jan 31 (before Chapman decision arrives!).
Waiting on both!
Emerson is dropping decisions already! Have kids check their emails and portals.
Son accepted at Emerson! An honor to be accepted. He is still leaning DePaul, especially with the cost difference.
UT Autin Radio TV Film has hit email inboxes.
Same here…at least I hope. We are visiting DePaul on 1/31 for admitted students day and then probably Emerson’s day on 2/22. Have not visited either yet. DePaul considerably less $$
I hear they deferred almost everyone until 2/15 with the RD group.
My daughter was one of the lucky ones. We were shocked to see an OOS acceptance for Radio Television Film.
Would you mind sharing her stats?
I don’t think they picked her on stats to be honest. Didn’t even break 1500 on SAT. Good grades some APs some Honors. Doubled up on foreign language first three years. Taking AP Calc and AP Stat this year. Otherwise basic standard prep school classes.
The EC list was strong. The Awards list for arts and writing awards was also strong with national arts and writing awards. But I don’t really know why they picked her for UT or for film.
With film, each film program seems to be looking for something specific, but I don’t know what that something is.
We are doing the visit at DePaul on 1/31. We did Emerson’s open house a year ago and live less than an hour away, know grads, etc. Awesome school, great area. Undecided if we will do the admitted day since we did the open house. We have toured so many! Just depends on his final two and financials.
So next week I know some kids will start to hear about regional Scholastic Art & Writing Awards.
Some regions will report later. Does anyone have a senior film student waiting for results?
Merit scholarship at LMU was less than we hoped, so I think it might be out as an option. Kind of a bummer.
What did you think of DePaul’s admitted students day? We thought it was pretty awesome. Definitely leaning that way. Heard some not flattering feedback about Emerson from the group but we still plan on going to their day in Feb.
My daughter got interviewed at FSU in January for their film school. She told me that she heard a rumor online that the film school had started calling accepted students?? Has anyone’s child received such a call or is it just an unsubstantiated worry? Because, if I remember correctly, I was told they would release it in the FSU portal on Feb 13. Nervous time!
My student also interviewed for FSU film and has not received a phone call.
I understand they have been calling since last week.
