Where are you applying for film school?

But again what we heard is the same thing your student saw online probably - Reddit thread.

Yes, just talked to her, and said she saw it on the Reddit thread. Interestingly, she says only Animation students on the Reddit have said they’ve gotten calls. Maybe they’re doing it in different batches?

I am sorry. I saw that and should have mentioned that was an animation applicant.

Welcome to this thread. Is your student waiting on other decisions in addition to FSU?

My student is waiting on several. Applied to 15. All for film production.

Oh, no problem! Thank you for the warm welcome. 15 applications is impressive! My daughter applied for film production to FSU, USC, Chapman, LMU, UCLA, UNCSA, and got acceptances to Emerson and George Mason.

That is lovely. Emerson is also an excellent film school and it is nice to have that as an option. She is in a good place.

So, your daughter will have a busy next two weeks with decisions! FSU, Chapman and USC for film - are those all coming out soon? I would have to check on USC film decision dates to be certain.

Yes, we are delighted about Emerson. FSU and Chapman come out mid-February, so yes very close! USC says admissions come out by April 1st, so that’s a while away.

My son applied RD to Emerson, but didn’t show demonstrated interest. Does anyone know how important this is? He didn’t show DI to any of his schools really, despite my advice. He’s a decent student but not stellar, has a lot of EC’s but no awards, a solid portfolio but not amazing. How difficult is Emerson to get in RD?

Chapman Film Production decisions just came out. My daughter was unfortunately waitlisted.

Mine received hers - accepted. Overjoyed.

Demonstrated interest is important for schools that indicate it is important in the Common Data Set. I can’t recall what Emerson said for how important they consider demonstrated interest.

My student visited and was accepted.

My son was rejected from Chapman. Congrats to those accepted and good luck to the waitlisted if it’s a top choice.

People do come off of the waitlist for Dodge. I noticed that last year.

That’s good to know, it definitely was one of my daughters top choices so that’s good news.

Is your student waiting on more decisions?

Son accepted to Chapman. I honestly cannot believe it. His specialty is Production Design so that helps. Not great merit aid so will need to evaluate because we just got back from DePaul, which was awesome, and half the price. Chapman has been his #1 choice though so difficult decisions lie ahead. For now, enjoying the yes. Hoping all of the kids are doing OK tonight either way.

We visited DePaul’s campuses and they were both amazing.

Yes, my husband and I both loved DePaul. Our kid, not so much, but I think once he gets a reality check on his acceptances, we’re hoping he’ll reconsider.

We both loved it. AND it’s 1/2 the cost of Chapman. But Chapman was his dream…ugh…

He is happy with his options he has. He is still waiting on Syracuse, but I doubt he will prefer it to his other options. Want to see how all of the money plays out. If things work out, we should be able to get him out within our price range. There are a few moving parts in that scenario so he can’t commit for another month or so. I am so excited to see all of these new filmmakers doing their thing!

My student still has heard nothing from them and is film production.
