When browsing from mobile devices, banned users’ avatars have “BANNED” on them. This is different from the avatar shown for banned users on non-mobile devices.
I do not see the “banned” word/banner on either my ipad or my iPhone. Or on the Computer. Nowhere. Only if I hover over the avatar with my mouse on the computer, and its in a different location.
Hmmm, maybe it only shows that “Banned” avatar to some mobile browsers (presumably not the Apple ones).
LOL, presumably?
I mentioned earlier in the thread, but it’s browser specific for some reason. From my experience, it displays in Chrome, but it does not display in Safari.
I use Chrome and don’t see it.

On Firefox mobile, I see the avatar with “Banned” on it. If I use the option to request the desktop version, I see the avatar with the hat and the bullseye.
On Firefox desktop, I see the avatar with the hat and the bullseye.
Looking at the HTML page source shows that the site is issuing different HTML with different images on the desktop and mobile versions.
Mobile contains this:
<div class="User" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Person">
<div class="User-Header">
<div class="Photo PhotoWrap PhotoWrapLarge Banned">
<img src="https://us.v-cdn.net/5020904/uploads/editor/jk/pgbknujgn8jk.png" class="ProfilePhotoLarge" alt="Default Avatar"> </div>
<h1 class="H">worelyclan</h1>
<div class="Gloss"> Junior Member</div>
Desktop contains this:
<div class="User Box ProfileBox" itemscope="" itemtype="http://schema.org/Person">
<a title="worelyclan (Banned)" href="/profile/worelyclan" class="PhotoWrap PhotoWrapLarge Banned"><img src="http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/themes/collegeconfidential/design/images/avatar.png" alt="worelyclan" class="ProfilePhoto ProfilePhotoLarge"></a>
<div class="Wrap">
<div class="ProfileInfo">

</h1>
Ok. I see the banner via chrome on android, in the mobile site.
Of course, the advice has been to avoid the mobile site to lessen the chance of the Amazon intruder spam that can take over.
OK, I just checked on Safari on my MacBook and it does now display.
If you roll over the avatar, it says “username (banned)” in a small box below the pointer.
Yes I can see it if I scroll but there’s no banner.
I don’t see anything on my iPhone.
The avatar for banned posters is the mortarboard and bullseye. Easily visiable on an iPad.
On my iPhone, if i go to the Parents Cafe (for example)…and open that list, the word BANNED is on the avatar for the person who started that thread. For example…citygirlsmom is banned, and she started the say it here thread.
For others…it’s just that bullseye/mortarboard avatar.
For clarification, here are the different avatars (with permission to post image links from moderator @skieurope – both URLs are those used in these forum web pages):
Banned avatar B1:

Banned avatar B2:

On Firefox mobile, I see B1.
On Firefox desktop, I see B2. Mousing over the avatar shows “username (Banned)”.
I do not see B1 on my devices. But I don’t use firefox!
I see B1 on iPhone Safari mobile and B2 on iPhone Safari desktop. iPad always shows B2 (always in desktop mode).
Well, apparently we no longer have to go through the histrionics. Banned members now have a red “Banned” stamped across the avatar.
Is this true for both “time out” temporary bans and permanent ones?
Yes.
So only tincture of time tells if it’s temporary or permanent.
Yes, but most bans are permanent. At present, there are only 2 members whose accounts are temporarily suspended. When/if the suspension is lifted, the banned stamp comes off.
