Anyone that applied through Common App via Yale receive interview invitation?
@swishswosh @Choochooyay I am from India and applied through Comm App via Yale, but havent received an interview…getting really worried!
Wondering if any one who applied through Comm app has received an interview?
I’m an American student who applied via Common App/ Yale, submitted my test scores and Why Yale-NUS essay on Jan 15, and I just received the email notifying me I’ve been shortlisted for an interview. Don’t worry, they’re still sending out interview requests. I’m really excited now!
@Prisoner9430 On which date did you submit your Yale application?
All the best for your interview
I applied from India as well…no invite yet…does anybody know when the last invites go out?
I applied through Yale. Did the why yale nus essay on 31jan. Got my interview yesterday!!
@maddy09 I submitted it in late December, probably around the 30th.
Hey guys!
@maddy09 @bakerstreet and everyone else who applied from India - I’m from India, I applied directly to Yale-NUS around 14th Jan, and got an interview invite two weeks later. To everyone stressing about interview invites, especially those from India (there’s too many of you guys to tag, sorry) - do not worry, there’s till plenty of time. My interviewer specifically said that they were just beginning their interview process, so I guess it will continue till the end of Feb.
I do have some friends who applied through the Yale application and got interview invites, but like I said - there’s time still.
My interview was more like what @surejen described, with specific questions, but it was really relaxed and the interviewer was very friendly.
Good luck to everyone!
Hello everyone!
I’m actually a deferred matriculant of Yale-NUS College (applied as an international student in 2018 and will be attending school this coming fall), and I wanted to thank @spinachbrain211 for creating this thread and wish all of you good luck! I’ve been to EYW and around campus a couple of times so please feel free to ask any questions and I’ll try my best to reply, although I’m sure I’m not as knowledgeable as the current students ahaha
In terms of the interviews, as @blrcollegekid24 mentioned, the invites should still go on for quite sometime… I remember doing mine mid-late Feb! The interview was pretty chill and I think as long as you remember your application it will go well!
Hi I’m a Moroccan applicant, I applied to Yale Nus via Yale on the common app, and sent the why yale nus essay maybe mid january, I was shortlisted for an interview today. Can anyone who had the interview online tell me what questions they typically ask?
Good luck to everyone
@maddy09 I applied through the Common App but not via Yale. haha I don’t even know what to expect now
Hey guys! Has anyone been shortlisted for the medicine interview under the liberal arts - medicine pathway programme? Thanks
Good luck
@blrcollegekid24 , did you send a why yale-nus essay with your application, my daughter didnt write this, she had applied directly but there was no mention of this essay, no response from the uni yet…just wondering?? Thanks
@bakerstreet Or any one from India who applied through Yale via Common App has received an interview invitation?
When is the last date till when interviews are sent out? Does anyone have any info on this?
Getting worried!
Hi everyone! I just came across this thread and I wanted to let you guys know how it went for me. I live in the US and I applied to Yale-NUS through my Yale Common application in the last week of September (ended up getting deferred from Yale). I got an email from Yale-NUS inviting me to interview sometime around January 7th or 8th. I signed up according to the directions and I had my interview over video chat on January 14th. Also, I didn’t do the optional Why Yale-NUS essay.
Like everyone said, it was pretty much exactly 30 minutes and the interviewer knew everything about my application. I’ve done a handful of other interviews and this was not the case anywhere else. To prepare, I kinda just surfed around on the Yale-NUS website to reacquaint myself with the particulars of the school (I recommend this for any interview) and I looked over my resume just to remember what I have done. We talked a lot about my specific extracurriculars, especially the challenges that I’ve faced within them. It really wasn’t hard since it was just a casual conversation about what I bring to the table. I feel like it went really well because I made it clear that I saw myself at Yale-NUS. We also talked about why I wanted to go to a liberal arts school and what extracurriculars I could see myself doing while at Yale-NUS. I definitely couldn’t have answered these as well if I hadn’t toured their website the night before my interview. I feel like that’s the best thing you can do to prepare: show them that you’re actually interested in the school and what they have to offer.
Let me know if you have any other questions about it! Obviously I haven’t gotten an admissions decision yet so I’m in the same boat as the rest of you…super nervous.
@sreerajagopal I applied directly to Yale-NUS, so the “why yale-nus” essay was a required part of the application. I didn’t have to send it in separately or anything, it was part of the app.
@farmerboy20 My interview was sort of similar - my interviewer said they had notes about my application, but all of my questions were really generalised and weren’t really about specific things I had mentioned in my app. I’m guessing it’s just because different interviewers have different styles, but I can’t help but be nervous. This is my dreaaaam school and I can’t see myself anywhere else so yeah… the nerves are killing me.
I’m here again. I wanna ask those who received interviews that if you saw a deadline to submit the FA document, when is it? Thanks in advance for answering:)
I scanned past threads again that seemed like after that deadline there are no interviews received.
I’m not sure how much chances I still have, but I’ll still post my stats sooner later XD.
Are people still getting shortlisted now? I haven’t heard anything yet and I’m seriously starting to get worried
@chococookies I think so. From what I’ve observed from the past threads, people continue to receive interview invitation until the end of February! Some relieving information, since as @blrcollegekid24 said, the interviewer said they’re just at the beginning of their process!
Furthermore, I believe it may also be delayed due to the outbreak of coronavirus around the world, considering Singapore as the second largest epidemic area.
I believe I’m equivalently anxious as you, I never heard any news from them since October hahaha, the only way for me to relieve is to send some question once a month to get in touched with them XD Anyway, just stay optimistic, and let’s see how it goes! Good Luck to us!
