So I’ll just share my stats like how previous threads does:
Applied directly to Yale-NUS on October 15, 2019 with:
IB Predicted Grade–40 out of 42).
A high school transcript showing my average score percentage is consistently >90% throughout 4 years of high school.
ECs:
15 national & int’l Model UNs including: 6-time delegate, 1-time Volunteer, 4-time Assistant Director, 1-time Director, 1-time Under-Secretary General, and 1-time as Secretary General organizing one.
Went to the University of Oxford for a summer school to study undergraduate level courses last July.
World Scholars Cup (Never counted the award, but there're various gold, silver medals, Tournament of Champion Qualifier).
Went to the Philippines 2016 and 2018 to voluntary work in wildlife centers, arrange articles for aid education, together with various engaging and challenging activities.
Founded a team in support of the UN SDGs. We collect unused books from our student annually, and delivered more than 200 books to the orphanage every year.
Served as the student leader for 2 consecutive years of our school's sports meeting.
Lead my teammate to participate in business simulations, and won the overall champion competing different students around China.
Student Leader for a charity food sale, all profits were donated to the vulnerable groups in my city.
Received some scholarships offered by the government from our city.
Above activities were also how I ranked them in the application, as most of the applicants here, I can’t imagine myself studying anywhere else as well… By now, I’m starting to doubt that if I’ll even be eligible for an interview out of so many outstanding applicants. Congrats to those who received an interview so far!
the deadline for FA application round 1 is 24/02. I think you might still stand a chance of getting shortlisted since you have such a spectacular portfolio!
I wanted to mention that I’ve received 2 emails asking me to submit specific financial documents. They say something like, “Please submit — financial document and then reply to this email once you’ve completed uploading.” I figure that they wouldn’t ask for so many specific things unless they were trying to put together a financial package so maybe this is an indication that I am accepted? No way to be sure, of course, but it definitely gets my hopes up!
@lowjun Oh then that’s the same deadline with last year. I will just wait, perhaps lacking of SAT scores leads to a deferral. Anyway appreciate a lot for both information and compliment!!
Hey
Does anyone know how much interviewed students get accepted? I had my interview yesterday and went pretty well, I really would love to get into this program.
@borger Oh, for SATs, I do not have. I schooled in China, where the SAT is not offered. So as they mentioned, I don’t have to include it in my application (I love this since I don’t have to spend additional money to take in other countries). Instead, I just focused on my IB! I think this is a reason why my application will get deferred (or… rejected).
As of Essays, I answered both essays, and I would say an 8/10? I love how I’ve written down them, as I’m reflecting back on how I overcame my own challenging moments in my high school life, as well as my passion for unknowns in the future.
Recommendations were 9/10 I should say? I got three. Two teacher showed me after submitting (one of them is my English teacher, which proved my English proficiency), and one teacher never showed me, but we are very close, and I think he’s sorta shy
And hey! You must have something that I lack which makes you unique from me! I believe everyone is talented and well deserved to be interviewed
Hey, has anyone applied to the Yale NUS-Duke NUS Medicine pathway and received an interview invite? Although my interviewer asked one question regarding the pathway in the Yale NUS interview, but since the website says there would be a separate interview by Duke NUS, I was curious.
Guys my friend is a student at Yale-NUS and she asked abt the interviews from the admissions office. Apparently, the covid 19 virus has slowed them down and they’ll continue interviewing till at least march 10 so there’s still time
