I think there was a lot of skilled editing in that episode at the end. I doubt that they made the other two teams stand there the entire time. Justin is a PITA, I must admit, but I would be surprised if he didn’t learn a lesson from this leg. He didn’t pay attention to the clues, he didn’t pay attention when they did the cell phone task, and this was unusual for them as they have been very good racers up until this point. My guess is that he and Diana will get it together and race well on next week’s final leg. The odds are that they will win but there have been a couple of seasons where a team that hasn’t won even one leg ends up winning TAR.
p.s. I don’t know how Logan can stand Chris. He is far worse than Justin, in my opinion.
I wonder what the value of the 7 first place prizes was for Green Team? The trips are okay and I’m sure the value overpriced for tax purposes, but there were a few cash prizes, cars?, electronics?
I’m happy for the reporters. It’s nice when the good guys finish first. They handled themselves throughout the race with patience and respect for each other. I also liked that Joey said he is going to help his parents out with their mortgage.
Justin whining at the finish that he is never going to get over not winning. Sad that he feels that way. Life brings lots of ups and downs and I hope that through this experience he gains some humility. They were amazing racers but at the end they should have not have let their cab go. Especially since as a New Yorker he should have been aware they wouldn’t easily get a cab off the island. Logan and Chris not having a cab was not due to a mistake but just due to bad luck. Overall I liked the season.
Since this is College Confidential- looks like both Kelsey and Joey are graduates of California State Universities. Cal Poly SLO and Cal State Northridge.
I’m happy with the outcome, although I would have been happy as long as Logan and Chris didn’t win. Kelsey and Joey seem like a sweet couple, but their editing slipped up when we heard Joey saying that Logan and Chris aren’t the brightest crayons in the box. Oops.
A poor decision about the cab is definitely what did Justin and Diana in. I don’t know how much $$ they had for the leg, did anyone catch that? Maybe he was worried about that, but it’s more likely that he was annoyed with the jerk of a cab driver. Having lived in NYC for 20 years, Justin should have known that getting a cab on Randalls Island would be a problem and he also should have known that NYC cab drivers can be jerks.
I liked how they did the memory challenge, too! Justin and Diana won at least two cash prizes, several trips and I forget what else. And, of course, as runners-up they get the largest of the non-winners’ cash prize.
Happy with the outcome. Justin should’ve known he wouldn’t easily find a cab on Randall’s Island. Being such a fan of the show, he should’ve known that keeping his cab was important.
Even if Chris and Logan had taken the reporters’ cab, they probably wouldn’t have won anyway since they were done in by the flag task. After this many years of AR, teams should know to pay attention to every detail since you’re likely to need to remember those things in the final leg.
Don’t many teams keep a journal of where they went in order to refer to it at the end?
Would it be interesting to have a new season of only 12 teams who got eliminated in the first leg? Some of them were jinxed because of bad cab drivers or delayed flights. Others made a rookie mistake such as misreading the clue, or picking the wrong team member to do a task.
I’ll bet they would have no trouble getting volunteers who want a second chance. And the show would be interesting because I bet few of these dubious acts of distinction would stand out.
@TonyK , it said in the clue they showed that they were not allowed to use any written notes. If you didn’t have it memorized, you were going to be in trouble this time.
Finally watched the finale. Justin again comes off like a poor sport - crying because apparently winning 7 challenges was not enough because it wasn’t 8 or because it wasn’t for the big prize.
How awkward at the end with Phil asking Chris/Logan questions about their clearly argumentive relationship!
Happy for the reporters. And what a nice guy truly wanting to make his priority helping his parents out.
