American Idol's Final Season! Shall we watch together?!

When is the finale?

I am pulling for Trent. He lives about 35 miles from us.

Finale is April 6 or 7th - can’t remember which.

Yeah, lots of tears tonight. I knew Dalton’s story and MacKenzie’s story. Still hard to hear though. Of course, not to diminish it, but we have heard La Portia’s story ALL season long. I don’t mean to sound unfeeling, but she needs to not have that “moment” everytime she gets on the stage - it’s a little bit much (my opinion)

Round 2 definitely better than round one. Loved Dalton and MacKenzie. Trent is just not for me. I could NOT believe that Sonika sang Let It Go!!! Really? Sealed her Disney contract!!!

Interesting how Trent said that line about people in Mississippi do what their “mama” says. And that he missed them so much, but also how a couple of weeks ago the showed how he told them not to come and watch at the show - they needed to stay home!

I can see Trent as a dark horse, seems like they tried to tone down the Diva attitude of LaP tonight.

I thought it ironic that LaPorsha’s lyrics were about no more drama, but she had a very dramatic “performance.” I’m not sure I bought it. I am glad that she was able to get out of the abusive situation, though.

Do you think LaPorsha will be the winner this season?

I like her!

I like LaPorsha, too, and I think she has a good chance to win. I think it may come down to song choice for all of them.

I have to admit I am old and not totally into today’s music. There are so many songs they sing that I have never heard, which is fine, except I have no idea if they’ve taken a song and done something special with it if I’m not familiar with the original version.

Really have not been much of a fan of the show in its final season. For me it’s between La’Porsha, who sounds better than she looks and Dalton, who looks better than he sounds. I’m pulling for La’Porsha.

^^^ Chuckling at that analogy!!!

The person I’m most likely to listen to once the show would be done is Mackenzie. I enjoy watching Dalton a lot and just have a soft spot for him, but I don’t know that I would seek out his music - actually I’m not fully sure what type of music he would put out. Mackenzie, I know what he would put out - and I would like it.

I still peg La Porsha for Broadway. I consider that a compliment. Maybe some soulful pop.

If I’m not mistaken, when he was saying that having them there would be a distraction and he was there (Hollywood) to work, not socialize — I took that to mean that others are spending family/friend time which would be a distraction for him. I can (somewhat) relate - I produced a film 10 years ago and many cast and crew invited friends/family to the set (with my blessing) during their scene(s) - it IS distracting, even if they’re sitting quietly in a dark corner. Ever been at your job when someone’s family/friend shows up (even just to pick them up for lunch) the whole place is disrupted. He also told them they MUST be there at the finale.

As for LaPorsha’s “Drama” - so I watched Mary J Blige sing that song live at an Oprah taping a thousand years ago, and mid-song MJ absolutely lost it, I mean I thought she was going to crumble on the floor. She simply could hardly get the words out of her mouth, the band played on and eventually she pulled herself together, picked up where she’d left off and finished the song. There was not one dry eye in the house. When a song resonates with an artist and they go with it, THAT’S art (to me). Look what happened with Kelly Clarkson earlier in the season. She wasn’t expecting to lose it, but she did, and when she did nearly everyone was pulled in, and lost it with her (including Keith Urban). I think LaPorsha’s “drama” was real.

I like Trent and I like LaPorsha. Sonika is boring (with a beautiful voice) and always looks like she’s scared out of her wits. Dalton and MacKenzie are cute, but that’s about it for me - although MacKenzie has a way with repurposing a song and its melody, unfortunately I feel like they all tend to sound alike. Tristan has an amazing voice but I felt like she was a one note - too bad, I picked her as the front runner at her audition.

I didn’t even recognize Adam Lambert - but I still adore him.

I thought Trent won the night and McKenzie should be going home. I see Trent and LaPorsha as the final two, but I like Dalton better than LaPorsha. She did not wow me tonight.

I loved Trent’s comment likening seeing Sia’s face to seeing a unicorn. lol

Sia is talented. I never heard of her but my daughter raves about her. I really don’t have a favorite.

Trent has grown on me- he is amazing. Agree that McKenzie is leaving.

Trent has grown on me too, I agree he was amazing tonight. I am not a fan of LaPorsha but I am sure she will be in the final 2. The show seams to really be pushing for her. I hope Trent wins.

I don’t love LaPorsha either and agree it will be she and Trent in the final 2.

I only saw Trent tonight (March Madness!) but really liked him.

Trent’s voice is too nasally for me.

Dalton and Mackenzie have been my favs for awhile. I admit that mackenzies style can only go so far in a show with powerhouses. He may leave next week. In that case I’ll be rooting for dalton who has captured my heart with way more than his voice. I’ll give Trent credit for his Sia song but otherwise I just don’t enjoy him - I have no idea who he is as a singer. I may enjoy one song of his but I want to listen to a whole cd of Mackenzie or dalton.

Agree that Trent’s voice is too nasally for my preference, but I also give him credit for his Sia song, and getting rid of his facial contortions. He will definitely be in the top two. Didn’t think either Dalton or Mackenzie sound great. I’m not really rooting for anyone in particular.
