Applying to the College Class of 2017 (Starting College in the Fall of 2013)

I have no way of knowing whether you are idle or not/ useless or not. What I do know is that you have not said anything so far, that would indicate to **me **you are ready for Harvard. So, until I hear something, such as your great SAT or SAT Subject Test scores or results from some national or international competition you won or amazing research that you conducted, I am not going to spend anymore time answering your questions about financial aid and admission into Harvard. Perhaps someone else might want to indulge you. Try the Harvard board too.

Thanks.

You welcome i don’t need your answer too…

US News and Word Report, provides some tips for international students applying to US Colleges:

[What Are Some Tips for International Students Applying to U.S. Colleges? - College Admissions Q&As (usnews.com)](http://www.usnews.com/education/blogs/college-admissions-experts/2011/09/14/what-are-some-tips-for-international-students-applying-to-us-colleges)

@zanofahd, as far as i remember, Ivy league uni’s like Harvard only take those students as freshman who have never attended any other university, and it should be the applicants first year in a university (or college as they call it in US, whatever).

I think u’ll have to apply as a transfer student

Shouldn’t this thread be like, very active right now?
Is there anyone from here applying to Jacobs, Bremen for the 1st December deadline? Or any other deadline, in fact.

Son got a letter from Jacobs, but he isn’t really interested.

Did anyone take the November SAT? I believe scores come out on monday.

Yeah. Its my third time taking the SAT 1 :frowning:
took it in Oct too. M 800, W 740, CR 660.
Trying to bring up that CR score.
Fingers crossed xD

Decided I’m not applying to Jacobs either, at least not for engineering.

I think the scores came out today for the November SAT.

@pakirootsian, thats exactly what im wondering too…why is this thread so dead :expressionless:
btw, ur studying in Roots right? Many students have gotten into Ivy’s from Roots over the years, so do u know what kind of scores they had, like in the SAT and what kind of essays they wrote? I’d appreciate it if u can provide any statistics of such students (EXCLUDING Ibrahim shaikh:P we all know the grades he got).

I have to give the SAT soon and im kind of getting worried now after hearing the scores of some AMAZING students who gave the SAT in November. A guy from my class is like, one of the top students ever (9A* in O’level and 3 A’s in AS’level) and he’s brilliant in both Math and English but he got a score of 2070 :/. I was like, wth?!

Any tips guys?

oldfashioned, You are right SAT scores came out today.

Son’s scores are very similar to his PSAT score and should be good enough to confirm his National Merit status: 760 in Reading, 780 in MC Writing and 700+ in Math. :)

That’s a pretty awesome score! So he finally managed to tackle maths, lol ;)

^lol yes. Last year his PSAT was 690 math, 740 Reading, 760 Writing. So his SAT scores are a little higher in each subsection and should be good enough to verify his PSAT score, for National Merit Scholarship Finalist standing.

Hey can anyone help me please? I just got a 1930 sat score and i have good O levels grades and average AS level grades. I intended to apply to low liberal arts colleges and I need full scholarship/aid to go there. Is there any possibility I will get in and where? Pleas give me links to other threads if relevant. Please guys help me.

danfanhp8, It is very hard to get a scholarships with an SAT score of 1930. There are approximately 150 thousand to perhaps 300 thousand students who have scored higher than you. What do you want to study? What are your SAT subscores?

Ahhhhh !
Got my Nov scores: 760 M, 760 W and 710 R. :)

Although i dropped the math score im happy with my super-score. 2270. :stuck_out_tongue:
guess hard work does pay off
1780
2200
2270 :)

I’m confused, oldfashioned. Are you talking about Ibrahim Sheikh? Or Ibrahim Shahid? I was in BMI(Beaconhouse Margalla Islamabad) before this, and he was a student there, with 23 A’s in his O Levels. If you’re talking about him, please note that he is currently in no university and had no admissions last year. Whether he took a gap year, I do not know. But he is currently not in college or in high-school.

As for the stats of the last year’s Ivy Acceptance from Roots I/9, she had a 2280 SAT I, 2300+ SAT II, 10 A’s in O levels, 8A’s in AS, 3 CIE distinctions, National Biology Camp, stellar essays and the support of the entire institute resulting in extraordinary rec letters. She got into Williams, Yale, UPenn, Dartmouth and Harvard; she is Harvard '16.

I do not know about DHA Roots, but that place is notorious for fake transcripts, expected grades and entire fraudulent applications, so stats wouldn’t be an issue there.

Congratulations Tanzyn! Where are you from?

AOA all. This is my first post in CC. Please guide me that do I have a chance for IVY league unis. I appeared for Sat in May and now in november.
May: CR 630 Maths: 780 Writing:700
November: CR 760 Maths: 800 Writing:650
Appearing for SAT 2 on 1 December in Physics, Chemistry, Maths 2. Hoping for 2350+
I had 11 as and 1 B in olevels ( 1 world distinction, 1 regional). Currently I have 6 subjects for alevels and in my A-1 final I had 4astars and 2 as.
Not a lot of ECs and volunteer work. Currently part of IMO camp.
Please guide me. My IVY league choices are cornell and dartmouth right now

I just realized i’d confused separate two people to be one poker face
I was actually talking about Ibrahim sheikh, the one who got into Harvard but I thought he was the same guy with 23 A’s (a.k.a Ibrahim Shahid) Its all clear now ;)

well, the stats u posted are just depressing to even read…i read such stats of people and I’m like, " Omg, what do I have?! "
lol

talha, Writing is a little weak. What were the MC scores? If they were 70 or above I would not worry. I am sure you already know, but neither MIT nor Cornell considers the Writing score.

The writing breakdown is as following:
May: MULTIPLE-CHOICE: 73 ESSAY: 8
November: MULTIPLE-CHOICE: 67 ESSAY: 8

Essay let me down :(

Also are you sure that MIT does not look at writing section. I am sure about cornell and uchicago
