Applying to the College Class of 2017 (Starting College in the Fall of 2013)

Congrats acroyal! :smiley:

PakiRootsian I applied to UChicago too but haven’t checked it yet. They said they’ll mail us the details on how to check our decisions.

And about the A Level thing, LGS JT and Aitchison are VERY far from our house. It’ll take like an hour to commute on a daily basis. Our khala lives in Islamabad, near Roots so if it’s better than JT and Aitchision and with that amazing counselor, I think Roots is a fantastic option!

Rejection number 2, UChicago -_-

PakiRootsian?
Anybody else?

A friend from LLC got wait listed at UChicago

Another wait listed from Aitchision

Rejected from UChicago.

2 waitlisted from Aitchison
2 from KGS

‘that counselor’ means you’re talking about Roots DHA; a school I’ve only heard about, albeit from a lot of current and former students, but still only heard about. Interesting that you mention the outsider being frowned upon, something known to happen at KGS and Atchison- I know for sure that unless you’re very very very very well connected (read dad’s a general) or you did your O Levels from Roots DHA, you’ll be treated like an outsider there as well. This will happen everywhere, probably, except for the smaller schools where you’ll be the proverbial big fish in the little pond. Good luck to your brother in his endeavors; I suggest only that you ask a lot of current students and not just random word-of-mouth gossip mongers before making this decision :)

Sorry to hear about UChicago, everyone. I didn’t apply, but they’re unusually stingy with aid so that’s probably the reason for those rejections and waitlists, not that people from those two^ schools would have asked for much. No one from Roots got in either

jerry, I can vouch for the ‘friendliness’ of Roots I9; I recommend sending your brother there, duresham, but that’s not what you’re asking-you want to know about the other Roots.

Get ready for Colby College decisions! Did anyone else get their email?

PakiRootsian is giving some sound advice! duresham3 should give it a serious look, good luck with your brother’s high school decision :)

3 ppl waitlisted at chicago from Aitchison
6 waitlisted from KGS and 1 accepted.

@JerrySeinfeld yep got the email but there’s no specific time on it just the date 23rd March.

Thank you PakiRootsian. How about Roots I9? There is still plenty of time. He’s currently preparing for his O Level finals and I’m preparing for my A Level finals. So as soon as we get free we will look into the issue thoroughly and go to Islamabad and check things out for ourselves as well.

All those who got rejected from MIT you need to see this lol : https://www.facebook.com/MITnews/posts/517934101583559

@alisiddiqui. The link is broken but if this was about Taha’s post, it was hilarious! :D

haha I died of laughterr while reading taha’s post! hilarious!

@Seinfeld, PakiRootsian
LGS JT isn’t a good choice if you want to go abroad for further study. It feels as if the admin is hellbent on making sure that does not happen, even for it’s old students.

@waleedz06
Is is true that an infamous student with 18As in O levels from LGS JT did not get in anywhere abroad?!?!

@Maaz997 yes this was Taha’s post. I couldn’t stop laughing.

@Seinfeld
Yes. But I think that was 2 years ago.
Even worse was a student around 4/5 years ago with Perfect SAT and SAT 2 scores, distinctions, and various national co-curriculars, who couldn’t get in anywhere but Connecticut College.
