Any more recent Deferred admittance?
son was just admitted to honors!
I am looking at the residential learning communities. The deadline to apply appears to be next week. However, it appears that you have to pay your enrollment deposit before you can submit your application. Meaning you have to commit by next week. Can anyone confirm this for me? I am interested in RLCs, but I am not sure we will be ready to commit by next week.
Yes, to apply for a RLC you need to first pay the $250 University Enrollment Deposit.
Hi yâall! Did anyone not hear from the honors college yet? It sounds like lots of students have but I am still waiting on my decision.
S24 received an invite to HC late last week.
I met with the HC office last week. They were sending them all out Friday afternoon (last week).
I got an email on Friday to both my personal email and my Auburn email.
Any current Auburn business major students/parents on this thread- can you comment on class sizes and course registration process for the prerequisite classes in the first 2 years? TIA
Can anyone answer this question for me: the application deadline for learning communities is Feb 23. Does that mean 5 pm (close of business) or end of the day (e.g., you could apply at 11:59 pm)?
Anyone have any idea if we will get housing if we completed the app and paid for it on Nov 29? I feel like we should be fine but worried.
I was told by an AO last week that if we did it in November we âshould beâ fine. Although there is no guarantee you will get your first pick. I spoke to some freshmen who were off campus, and they were saying it is 1. cheaper and 2. in some cases, closer to where they take classes than some of the dorms.
Definitely one of the issues with a growing freshmen class - the pre-req classes fill up quickly. With current students registering in Spring for fall, a lot of the those spots will be taken long before the incoming class registers. (Iâm not sure if they hold a certain number of spots for freshmen.)
Going in with credit will help. For those in honors college, it helps a little too because they can select honors-only classes. Just keep options open and have your schedule ready to go as soon as your time opens. You can keep checking for openings too (as soon as all freshmen have registered) - things do shift around and open up.
Do you know what early action round that was? I would say round 1 or 2 should be in a pretty good position. But, if you have a roommate with an earlier room selection timeslot, they can place you in a room at that time, so that helps a lot. Just something to consider. The âpopularâ dorms go really fast, so definitely the earlier you can secure a room the better.
If you havenât heard yet, Iâd definitely reach out to HC and check the status. Itâs my understanding that everyone should have received an email.
Last year, my daughterâs application got âlostâ . Notifications went out right before the winter break and she had to wait over a month because the offices closed. So crazy things do happen!
Last year going blind into Auburn, knowing nothing about it or anyone who went there, my son living off campus would have been a concern.
After freshman fall I realize it shouldnât have been a concern at all. Much of the âoff campusâ housing is blocks away from campus and some closer than âon campusâ dorms.
Also some perks of being off campus, like lower cost, not shut down periods over breaks where you have to leave, bigger units, can stay over the summer as most are 12 month leases. My son wants to stay down there this summer. I said next year he can once he has a 12 month rental. Obviously he loves it wanting to stay down there in AL over the summer, but the point is being âoff campusâ is not a big deal especially if you link up with some people. It is a little added stress maybe but in no way should be a deal breaker. Good luck.
Thank you for all this. My D24 was accepted 1st round but she had other schools in mind back then and now Auburn is back in her top 2⊠and we didnât do housing deposit until this week. What should I be prepared for - on campus or off campus - at this late date?
Based on what we were told last week - off campus is something you should be prepared for.
When she makes her decision which hopefully is soon she will need to check Instagram, housing portal and I think girls use zeeme? Not sure but anyway start looking for roommates who have common interests and either have a good slot or want to live off campus. Obviously the longer you wait the less potential roommates available. My son had day two slot but didnât decide until March so was hard finding people and in the end just picked his #1 dorm choice and went with random roommates which has worked out well.
How did your visit go?
