Clemson University Early Action for Fall 2024 Admissions

I am 1st in my class with a 1600 SAT and lots of extracurriculars and play a varsity sport. Do they base it mostly on academics? If so I think I might have a good chance but I’m still worried

My daughter has been deferred almost everywhere she has applied EA- Clemson, USC, UT, Auburn. We are out of state for all. She has a 4.5 gpa, lots of extracurriculars and leadership positions. Boarding school. This is so nerve-wracking!!! Hope to get some good news at some point!

Your daughter should be fine. EA is way harder to get in than RD.

With a 4.5 GPA, that is insane! Join us in the other thread!

I cannot find the other ā€œdeferred threadā€?

I can’t imagine getting deferred from all those schools with a 4.5 GPA. I’d have to imagine that she will get accepted to pretty much all of those schools in RD. What state are you applying from?

Virginia

Did she apply to VT?

yes

4.5 is obviously the weighted gpa, colleges usually use unweighted because HS weighted gps’s can vary greatly.

that is really surprising. I wonder if she was affected by the SRAR glitch that happened with some Tennessee and VT applicants. my daughter is also OOS VA with same weighted GPA and very few ECs and was accepted at Clemson and USC. She did not apply to VT. I would look into that further.

What were her test scores? A lot of the schools you mentioned rely heavily on scores during EA. I expect she’ll get into several of those schools during regular decision

Good luck to your daughter. My classmates are having an ā€œOKā€ year. Not great.

Also, what major did she apply for? Similar students applying for different majors can have very different results at Clemson.

Do notifications for Honors College go out all at the same time or at different times? Is there an email saying ā€œthanks for applying but we cannot offer you a spot at this timeā€ or something to that effect, or do you simply get no notification at all? Consideration for National Scholars is tied to the Honors application (you had to have applied to EA and Honors in order to be considered for for National Scholars) - is that also a decision that comes all at once or slowly over the course of the next month? I would imagine the NSP email would be something you would only see if you were being considered…but who knows - every place is so different.

Congratulations on your great academic accomplishments. If you check Clemson website they have biographies of past folks who got the award. Usually very diverse, South Carolina students represented. My memory of the biographies is that besides outstanding stats, they all had some very impressive EC or community service or something similarly compelling.

Thank you so much.

Is anyone going to the March 9th Experience Clemson day??
