Cornell Waitlist Class of 2028

If I recall, I think it was for the engineering school. Hopefully no one has to do that. It’s ridiculous to make kids continue to jump through hoops with additional essays.

Essentially a LOCI is an essay…

yea but I think coe waitlists needed to write abt why they chose their major whereas other colleges were not asked to specifically write abt that, and CAS waitlist does not consider major

Anyone on COE waitlist receive additional writing prompt or info?

Last year they received that email around the 17th this month, but so far I don’t know anyone who did

I really do hope they start taking off ppl on the 2nd since the FAFSA delay will likely have an effect on it🙏 But either way I’m not placing too much hope coz they did accept a lot more ppl than previous years

I don’t know about previous years, but last year everyone on the engineering waitlist got an email to write an additional essay. Those on the CAS waitlist got an email only if they were being considered for admission.

Manifesting I would get the email:sob::pray::pray::pray:

How would it work for CALS tho? Also, I already submitted my LOCI like a week back but and I called the office to make sure that they recieved it. But I never heard about anything like an additional essay or anything for CALS. I’m pretty sure the LOCI is just the writing (additional essay) that waitlisted applicants are encouraged to submit. Also I applied Biometry and Statistics which is a relatively small major in terms of the people that are enrolled in it. Will that help my chances of being accepted off the waitlist in any way? Praying for the best!

Last year someone called the office and they said they do not take the student’s major into account in CAS and CALS

It seems that this additional essay about a major was ONLY sent to engineering students LAST YEAR. If you didn’t apply to the College of Engineering, I wouldn’t worry at all about it. And if you did apply to COE and haven’t received it, I wouldn’t worry either. It’s still early and they may not even require it this year for waitlisted students.

Ohh okay I see. Thank you for clarifying. The thing was, I reached out to a lot of Biometry and Statistics students (via LinkedIn) at Cornell, and almost all of them were either accepted off the waitlist or were offered a TO. So I thought that since biometry is relatively small major, CALS tends to offer a lot of people spots off the waitlist if they are in Biometry or any other small major within CALS.

Well in that case I have no idea :sob: the person who called could be lying

haha. Nah I don’t think the AOs would neccesarily lie about it. I think that for when they are considering you as a whole, they won’t take your major into account when evaluating you. But I feel like when you are on the waitlist, since you are already qualified enough to be accepted but they don’t have much space, they will lean towards accepted students who applied for majors that don’t really have many students. That’s just my theory tho so I’m not 100% sure. I also don’t want to spread misinformation accidently, so please take what I am saying with a grain of salt. Once again, this is what I noticed from reaching out to a lot of Cornell students who are majoring in BTRY.

Last year I saw a lot of bio majors got picked up, and CAS had the most acceptances. Idk if it will be similar this time😅

Haha yeah I think it might be different this year. I wish they released all of the waitlist decisions in May tho. I didn’t realize that it might take them till July to release the offers. Wait also by most acceptances, do you mean CAS offered the most acceptances to students on the waitlist?

Yep

Did anyone get an email confirming the LOCI submission after they submitted their LOCI?

nah but I just called the office to make sure that they did receive the LOCI, I just uploaded it to the application portal under the waitlist correspondence category

A new record is shown in the doc submission area of the portal after you upload the LOCI there.
