Cornell Waitlist Class of 2028

in previous years there were “likely letters” sent out, at least for CAS. This year, I don’t think that they have sent them out yet.

interesting. They didn’t do likely letters for the RD round this year right? I wouldn’t be surprised if they did something similar to a likely letter for the waitlist applicants.

from what i heard it came out a week or two later than right now last year. idk how it works all that well just what i heard from earlier years

oh okay

You do not need to update them if you are not taking the test. If you want credit for any AP classes, those you will need to send for evaluation. They do not track what AP tests you decide to take.

If I remember correctly, they send CAS emails on Thursdays and acceptances on Tuesdays. The first batches have previously been sent either the last week of April or the 2nd to last week. It changes each year but typically the first batch is by the end of April.

CAS has a specific system. They send out emails asking students if they would accept a spot if they are offered. Each batch of these emails only go out to a small number of CAS waitlist applicants. Typically on a Thursday (I think also maybe sometimes Tuesday). From my research last year, most if not all of these students get an offer the following Tuesday. My son is one of the ones who got this email followed by an acceptance.

Wait so that might mean that this Thursday is the day they start emailing students for CAS. It might be the same for the other schools too potentially.

Possibly this Thursday. Not a guarantee since the first day has varied each year. Last year had a higher number of waitlist offers compared to other years.

This is only for CAS and doesn’t affect any other schools.

Oh okay. Do you know how it will work for CALS?

i saw that too but in the waitlist decision they say it will be out at the earliest may 2nd so they can see who commits first. is that not how it works?

Thanks for this info!!!

I feel like maybe they will start sending emails on the 2nd? So many ppl haven’t committed yet😭

Yeah. I’m thinking the same thing. Realistically, the only way for them to start making waitlist decisions is to wait till they know how many people are actually commiting. However, they could potentially send out something soon this week or next week before May 2nd to applicants to once again identify those who are interested in accepting an available spot.

No, sorry. There was no pattern for CALS.

Oh okay. Thank you for letting me know.

just wondering, do you remember what day your son got the email?

and around what time?

He got this email on April 28th at 4pm eastern. Then the offer was on May 2nd in the morning.
