Downton Abbey

Yea Branson!!!

Please, sentimental fans, wasn’t that a lovely wedding?

And Daisy, will her dreams come true?

Yay Edith! So glad to see her as the center of attention for once with Mary off to the side being ignored and at a loss for words.

Such a satisfying episode! I knew Tom would be back because Allen Leech was on The Late Show along with Hugh Bonneville and Michelle Dockery when they were promoting this season, but I didn’t expect him back so soon. I even liked that they showed Cora acting b****y since she often seems so shallow.

Yes, wonderful wedding! You go, Mrs. Patmore, for having the guts to speak up!!

Foreshadowing?(1) Robert having indigestion (2) Edith spending some time with a nice/decent guy

Has Tom (Allen Leech) gained weight? His face looks much fuller.

As always, I loved the snippy comments from the Dowager Countess: (1) Second thoughts are vastly overrated (2) A peer in favor of reform. It’s like a turkey in favor of Christmas.

CBB- I also noticed the change in Tom’s face. And picked up on Robert making that comment which seemed to be a little out of context.

So let’s take this a little bit further –

Robert had “indigestion.” I see a massive heart attack in his future. But, no worries; the abbey is in good hands, with Mary and Tom to run it. For how long is anyone’s guess.

And Edith and the agent who turns out to have exceptional editing skills – what luck that she ran into him! She seemed so happy putting out that magazine. Have we seen before the woman who was typing in the office while Edith fired the editor? I don’t remember her at all, but all of a sudden she was Edith’s confidant and office assistant, and completely supportive.

And the Dowager Countess is now clearly outnumbered-- it appears to be four to one in favor of progress.

And Anna will become pregnant and be able to have a baby, right?

What a delightful episode. The only ones I feel truly bad for is the Drewes family.

Joining in to say what a great episode. My laugh out loud moment was Dowager Countess, asking Mrs Crawley " have you been drinking at lunch" …Mrs Crawley, “no, you were with me” . Dowager " Well, not always" lol

Indigestion a sign of bad things.Changes to come, wedding, birth …and, death ??? Yeeks.

IF someone’s needs a dr and Clarkson flubs up (again)…that takeover doesn’t seem so unwelcome

I would kill to get the embroidered coat that Mrs. Hughes was married in!

^ is there a British tradition that all wedding be in drab colors, muted grey, browns, ect seemed like the entire entourage and guests were in monochromatic color scheme. Looked lovely from a cinematic view though.
(Get I agree that overcoat is beautiful )

I had to laugh that Carson wears a TUXEDO every day of his life, yet for his wedding he is in an ordinary suit.

@GMTplus7 , hmmm, maybe we posters should head to Hollywood? Or wherever the British equivalent is.
That said…ut oh…Robert having “indigestion”.

^^A foreshadowing moment if there ever was one. I always thought it would be the Dowager Countess who became ill, though.

Yeah, Robert having indigestion is pretty obvious foreshadowing.

Why did they have Tom go to America anyway? Did the actor think his movie career would take off more than it did? I really didn’t like that his arrival upstaged the wedding couple.

LOL surfcity, when your work outfit is white tie, what do you wear to your wedding?

Where are Carson and Mrs. Carson going to live? Is there an empty house near the Bates’?

I don’t like that they upstaged the wedding couple either, but I was still great to see them back.

I loved the episode, but I did not like how Tom’s return upstaged the wedding couple. I would have liked to see a lot more of the wedding… some of the downstairs staff getting a little drunk, Mary loosening up, some fun local dancing, Moseley and Baxter in the corner making out or something

Don’t know why this just struck me last night…is there a reason Edith doesn’t have a ladies maid? Matter of status in house or did she turn one down or do we just never see her?

I do like that Tom is back. He seems to bridge some character divides. He always supported Edith with the paper and he got close to Mary managing the estate.

The three sister’s used to share Anna as a ladies’ maid. When Mary got married, she took her exclusively. Sybil didn’t want a maid, of course, as she moved to Ireland. Edith never married, so I think she just uses a housemaid when she needs help and doesn’t travel with a maid. She also ‘goes down’ for breakfast because she isn’t married.

Thanks! Figured I just missed it in early season.
