@417WHB you can try clicking Latest Posts, but to fix the problem for long term you have to dismiss all the pinned posts - yes they are old and take up way too much space. It has to be done one by one. But after that you only have to scroll past the also old but fewer in number featured posts to get at what’s new.
I personally go right to my bookmarks page -http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/discussions/bookmarked which works perfectly unless I’ve been logged out in which case it’s just a big blank error page. Fixing that seems not be to a priority here so YMMV.
Bookmark your bookmzrk d page and the latest post pages, go straight there without going to the front page because there’s too much to filter before you get to anything new (and it thus looks like it never moves/updates, which is a problem to attract people) . If you’re logged out, the bookmarked page will be an error message, so go to the Latest threads page you bookmarked, log in, and then the bookmarked page works again.
@CCadmin_Sorin there is most definitely something wrong with how new posts are shown on threads. Sometimes I log into a thread where it says “new” but I’ve already read the posts…and on this device (iPad Air). Sometimes I check a thread that doesn’t have “new” noted…and lo and behold there is a post or two I’ve never opened or read or seen.
@dadof2d I am having the exact problem on my iPhone - all white space except for an advertising banner than is constantly changing from one ad to another.
@shuttlebus, @dadof2d, can you please send me a screenshot at admin@collegeconfidential.com? Are you logged in when you see the ad? On what page is that happening? Also, what browser/device? I am not able to replicate it, so as much info as possible is highly appreciated to help us get to the bottom of this. Thanks!

My issue with new posters is how they come on moments after registering, don’t offer full context for their questions. It’s like there’sno gestation period. I can deal with posters who have a comments to add, even if they never started a thread.
Was this announced? I’m now very confused. It looks random to me – I can’t tell what I’ve seen and what I haven’t. I suppose it’s something else I’ll just need to get used to.
Isn’t this how they keep prisoners on edge – by constanting changing the routine and the schedule?
IMO, CC should be accessible and approachable for even those wanting to sign up, drop in and ask one question, and move on. There shouldn’t be a waiting period to do that. It’s a message board not a club.
I have a request…and it’s about bookmarks. According to my screen, I have 45 bookmarks…but I really only have about 12. The remaining ones were ones I bookmarked, but then CC deleted them! When they were deleted, they still were included in my bookmark count. Why?
Any chance the real number of bookmarks I have could be used?
I haven’t read all the pages of this thread, so I don’t know whether anyone has brought this up, but one thing I’d really like to see is the forums in bold letters along with who started the thread and the last person to post. I like to click on “Latest Posts” and look at the list of thread titles, and it’s hard to make out which forum the title was posted under. I’d find myself attracted to a particular title to read it only to find out it’s under a specific forum that I have no interest in. Being able to quickly see the forum name would be an improvement.
