I think deceit.
Nah. I just noticed the original posts in all threads are bigger font than the subsequent comments.
Ah, yes, but your example was not to the original!
Not sure what you mean.
I had noticed on the thread I posted that the two posts - original and the first response were different sizes. I then realized that was true with every post and hadn’t noticed it before. Just found it interesting/odd that it was set up that way instead of having consistent font size for all.
I am sending like daily flag reports due to spam. I have only noticed this since the upgrade. Doesn’t this site have software to help detect this.
@Knowsstuff there has always been spam. Mods are constantly deleting it, much more than once a day. It actually doesn’t seem as bad now as it used to be.
It’s a huge problem for websites. One running site I used to frequent was almost brought down by it. There doesn’t seem to be a good solution.
@MaineLonghorn Thx. Maybe I just didn’t notice it before. I will just be on “flag” patrol then. Lol…
@Knowsstuff , you might not see it because users are so good at reporting it quickly and moderators quickly jump on all reports. I’ve been on a lot of other websites where that’s not the case and spam sits around for days.
Test thread posted here: http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/community-forum-issues/2153785-comparison-of-font-size-and-spacing-between-post-0-and-replies.html .
Firmly believe it is different sized fonts, @ucbalumnus which would drive more white spaces/spacing as well. To me it is most obvious with capitalized letters.
The test thread at http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/community-forum-issues/2153785-comparison-of-font-size-and-spacing-between-post-0-and-replies.html suggests that the font size, or at least both horizontal and vertical spacing, differ.
I see a larger font on the OP to threads…and then the smaller font on responses. Why is this necessary?
I also see different font sizes.
So, now on my iPhone, I get taken to a log in screen right off the bat (I like that better BTW), but if I back arrow after reading a thread, it takes me back to the log in screen and I have to log in again.
Also, I had new notifications this morning but I already saw them on my phone last night. Usually they would not come up on my laptop this morning.
Did the font change??
Asking again- is there any way to search a thread for a particular word or college name? For example on “the reasons a school moved up or down the college list” thread, I like to try to look for schools my D has recently visited to see if our ideas about the school match others or if no one has posted about a particular school, I might add our thoughts. Can we no longer search this way?
@MAmom111 http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/parents-forum/1883008-colleges-your-child-crossed-off-the-list-after-visiting-schools-that-moved-up-on-the-list-why.html
At the very top of the page is a magnifying glass symbol. If you click on that, it will bring up a search box. It should be right near your user name.
@momofsenior1 Thanks but when I use that search box it searches the whole site, not just that particular thread. I’m on my IPhone if that makes a difference.
I’m not sure we were every able to search just a particular thread but I may be wrong…
@MAmom111 The magnifying glass next to the page numbers (top and bottom of pages) only searches the current discussion, for me on a laptop.
However, we previously reported that the discussion search and page number links are missing on mobile and when I check on my phone, they are still missing.
