Could we ever search that way? Rhetorical question, since we have not been able to search that way in the 5 years I’ve been here. So no.
Here’s the workaround (or at least as good as you’re gonna get) for @MAmom111 . From the thread, open the hourglass and choose “select forum” and type in your keyword. When the results pop up, scroll to the thread, and at the bottom of that thread preview it will say “X results” where X is a number >1. Click on “X results” to bring up all posts in the thread with the searched term.
Is it possible to fix the “most recent” post for UC Berkeley and UCLA on this view http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/c/ UCB has no “most recent” and UCLA is stuck on April 13.
Is there any way to NOT be notified when a particular thread gets new posts but still get notifications from threads you are still interested in? For example, I am not that interested in anything on this thread (you all made changes and they aren’t going back to the good way so be it), however now I cannot find the updates for threads I am trying to follow because of all the inquiries here (I had 73 notifications mostly for this thread none of which I was wanting or cared to know about). Help please @CCadmin_Sorin I want off this train … please!
Un bookmark it @ASKMother - if it isn’t bookmarked go to settings/preferences/notifications and uncheck “Notify me when people comment on discussions I’ve participated in.”
@ASKMother, unfortunately it is not possible to select notifications for just specific threads within a forum. You might want to follow @OHMomof2 advice on the bookmarks.
When I click on a link provided by you or Dave Berry in a post or highlighted thread on the home page it brings me to a blank page with some CC info at the top. It’s in the same format as the site and obviously not the article. It’s constant and the same in every case. It’s been doing this for the entire time. I’m just getting around to mention this as an issue. It doesn’t seem to happen with normal linked posts.
I use an iPhone 8x and always access the site using that device.
It just happened again tonight when I tried to access the link for the Dave Berry post on elite thinking in college choice. I DMd you as well. Blank page with banner at top of generic cc footer info. Privacy terms contact us. Etc. blank below.
I can bookmark a thread on my iPhone, but I cannot uncheck a bookmark on my iPhone. It will not respond. I have to log in on my desktop to remove bookmarks.
"When I click on a link provided by you or Dave Berry in a post or highlighted thread on the home page it brings me to a blank page with some CC info at the top. " @privaterbanker
Are you using Firefox browser?? This happens to me all the time, and its because CC has not yet fixed this software glitch, which they have been aware of for over 9 months, but which apparently has dropped to the end of the line due to the larger problems encountered with their “upgrade” to the new platform.
Some threads appear in a couple of places…like featured threads also appear in the regular forum list.
When I read a post, it only shows it as read in exactly the same place I’ve read it. In other words, if I read a featured post new posts…they will still show up as new posts in the regular forum listing.
AND if I read on my phone, nothing is carried over to my iPad. It’s like I never read the new posts.
Can you please send me screenshots of the blank page to admin@collegeconfidential.com? We need to see exactly what’s being displayed in order to get to the bottom of the issue. Thanks a lot!
