Just curious to see if there are other parents out there who watch LOST. I never thought I’d watch a network series again (after the first 2 or 3 seasons of ER years ago), but S1 had the dvd collection which we watched over time and got hooked (and spoiled, viewing without commercial breaks).

It’s a fun way to stay connected to S1 in college. D’s and I watched the season premiere tonight. Wasn’t crazy about the last season or two, but tonight’s episodes were pretty promising, I thought.

Just watched the catch up piece after having not watched an episode since mid season 3. My D insists that I get back involved since it’s coming to a close. So I will. The catch up helped since I felt I didn’t need “that much” of a refresher.

I’m watching the first new episode now. It’s very interesting. The last two seasons were almost unwatchable. I hope this year is better - it looks promising.

Yikes, I am so confused by all the time switches, but then again, I missed the catch up preview, and the first 20 minutes of tonite’s episode. And then all the dead/alive/dead again people. I’m not sure I have the stamina (or patience) for this season.

I’m annoying to watch with at this point. The kids are totally on top of it, and I’m, well, lost. I try to save my questions for commercials, but I can’t remember who all those old people are, I didn’t get that Hurley is seeing dead people – I just wasn’t paying enough attention.

Hurley has seen dead people before (Charlie, I know, and Libby- I think).
I’m not sure how Faraday knew so quickly knew that time would be skipping (as opposed to maybe moving just once)-- like a record on a turntable-- when Linus moved the wheel.

I’ve learned to let things go for a while that I don’t understand - which is quite a bit!

I’m pretty sure the lady with the gray hair who Linus saw will turn out to be Faraday’s mother, because she was the same woman Desmond ran into long ago at that shop.

Last year you could watch each episode at ABC online the following day, without commercials. Maybe the same this year.

We also enjoy watching Lost and I thought the season premiere was very, very promising.

I have rehearsals on Wed. evenings and we have lots going on right now, so we ran over a bit. Hubby (who sings in the choir) rushed me out like you wouldn’t believe and raced home so we could watch it in HD (rather than plain old TV on TiVo).

I much preferred the older seasons when the focus was more on the adventure and survival aspects of the island, as opposed to the sci-fi aspects. Now it can feel a little hokey at times (i.e., Ben pushing this huge icy wheel around? Come ON.) I did like the second episode last night better than the first, and at the end with Juliet and Sawyer getting captured by the militaristic guys it seemed a little more like the adventurey Lost we know and love.

Maybe it was just the mood I was in. I’ll try watching on abc.com again this weekend.

“I much preferred the older seasons when the focus was more on the adventure and survival aspects of the island, as opposed to the sci-fi aspects”

Me too! I liked the focus on the Island, rather than on too many things that make my brain hurt. Am glad they have them heading back there. Just hope it doesn’t get TOO confusing. There are getting to be too many groups of people to keep track of.

LOVE Lost - watched last night while DS was watching at college on his roommate’s TV - he called at half the commercials to discuss it! I really enjoyed last night’s episodes but have always been a fan of “time travel” sci fi anyway - you just have to accept the premise and let it flow from there - of course it’s not logical! And we just got a new 40" HDTV and WOW the island looks good! Not to mention shirtless Sawyer…

It’s fun to read the TWOP boards to pick up all the little details (like Neil Frogurt was wearing a red shirt) and to help remember how the new episodes tie back to older ones. Last night was chock full of that. Although the ending makes me think of Heroes - maybe they need a different Claire on the Island - Save the Cheerleader Save the World?

So back to last night’s Lost episode, not quite sure I understood it all.
How did Locke get off the island and into the coffin? Who would be trying to kill Hurley and why? Is Claire (who disappeared in last season) dead? How else could she have left her baby in the woods alone and how else could she be hanging out in the shack with her and Jack’s dead father? Is Jack’s dead father “Jacob”? The time skipping thing really confuses me to.

LOST fans here also (although I could have done without the late night last night)…anyway, my D said that the woman with the gray hair is Locke’s mom? but I agree that I thought she was Faraday’s mom (but she is supposedly at Oxford, not in LA)…

My husband made the comment last night that he feels like he is losing brain cells every season when LOST starts up again…he and my D get soooo intensely involved…nice bonding for them though!!!

BTW, if you like LOST, you’ll love Fringe…even the music is the same…

Thank goodness I watched and DVR’d the shows last night… I feel a little lost and confused so I will have to rewatch them this weekend. The show is a big topic of conversation at work on Thursday mornings, but this morning, they seemed a little ‘lost’ too with all the different opinions.

The woman with the grey hair is the same one from the second hand jewelry store (last year?)who gave Desmond the diamond ring but then told Desmond that he couldn’t marry Penny (he had to do things just as they had originally occured and he had to sail in the race and go to the island and push the button in the hatch).
She is probably Faraday’s mom.

I thought I was doing ok until my husband (a reluctant Lost-come-lately fan) asked me who exactly are the Others. My response was pretty vague. Anyone have a good sentence or two to describe them?
