LOST (the tv series) anyone?

They didn’t say who Jacob was talking to, but my guess is someone that Richard Alpert will kill in exchange for eternal youth/helper of Jacob status

But what did the two men say to each other?
Wow, so Jacob connected with each of them in the past.

They said something about people coming to the island but it changes nothing, something like that. People come, they attack, over and over.

The other guy: “Do you know how long I’ve wanted to kill you?” Don’t know who this is. Maybe Richard before he stopped aging???

DS’s theory: Jacob is Liam, the brother of Charlie (visual resemblance and the “DS” ring).

Locke and the people from the Azara flight are in the same “time” right? So they are both headed to the same place now?

Yes. Or so we think.

Wow.

Will wait on any discussion – no spoilers for West Coast CCers.

Yeah - the wait until January is gonna suck

Awesome. LOST can go in so many directions. :)

Amazing episode. I wasn’t too thrilled with this season, but the darn writers got me again :)

So it really isn’t Locke, it is Jacob’s nemesis from hundreds of years ago (who somehow can make himself look like Locke)? It is the old good (Jacob…since he wears white) over evil war? I think that the ending meant that all bets are off in January. I am betting that it is a total reset. Anyone know if any old cast members are rehired for the final season?

When we first met Jacob and his ‘friend’ we got the impression that maybe Jacob was the bad one-- messing with innocent people who ended up at the island. Afterwards, though, he was the one looking at the bright side, touting free will, good choices, etc. Back to the first scene, though, as BurnThis mentioned – where the two are watching the ship head towards the island, the friend said something about it always ending the same way (chaos, war, killing?) and then Jacob said something like, yes, but every decision made up until then is progress. I can’t recall it exactly-- am going to try to find it online.

After the show I was trying to remember which philosopher it was who wrote about free will, and S1 reminded me that it was John Locke (of course). He was crushed when it was Locke whose body tumbled out of the box (Locke can’t be dead!). Looking back, it DID seem out of character for Locke to so glibly and happily announce that he was going to kill someone, though (or even have Ben do it for him).

S1 said there was a lot of online discussion last night about religion, biblical parallels, and even aliens. I have enough trouble just keeping track of the plot, but I DO think they present us with characters that are redeemed sinners (Sawyer, Kate) and martyrs (Juliette, and probably Jack). I agree with Cryto-- wasn’t crazy about the season as a whole, but the last few shows brought my interest right back. The ONLY annoying point for me last night was Bernard and Rose-- I was happy to see them, but they were waay too serene and silly.

seiclan-- S1 says that Claire’s character will be back.

I’ve been surprised at how many times they’ve brought back Christian Shepherd. They must really like him. Also-- since Jacob’s nemesis took the form of John Locke, do we then assume that he’s the one who’s been appearing as all the dead people/ghosts? And is he the smoke monster?

I actually loved the Rose/Bernard scene: “We are retired now”.
Also - to the person who was reminded of the Bigfoot footage - I totally felt the same way. I wonder if that was on purpose?

ISP- I think so. I believe that the nemesis is the one who can transform himself to look like anyone (who is dead). Very interesting series…

I was also bummed that Locke wasn’t himself.

Earlier this season, Ben and “Locke” went to see the smoke monster, and Ben was unable to call it. “Locke” made a comment about “Oh, I thought you could control it!” or something- so this was because “Locke” was really the guy who represented evil, who is also the smoke monster, or at least they’re connected? And when Alex appeared to Ben when he went to be judged by the monster and told him not to hurt John Locke, it was really just the same evil guy impersonating Alex, and since he was also impersonating Locke, he couldn’t have Ben hurt him or otherwise he wouldn’t be able to fulfill his goal of killing Jacob.

At least these are the thoughts from over here…

I concur ^^^^.
