Project Runway Season 15!

I wonder if the contestants had a say on whether or not they wanted their moms to come? Some people dont have good relationships with their moms, and it was really unfair to the contestants to have to fake the funk on national tv.

A few of them had friends there instead of their moms. I wonder if that’s because their moms are no longer living or were not available to come, or if they chose not to invite them.

Erin’s vinyl table cloth should’ve gone home. Looks like she makes another weird coat next week too.

The direction of “next stage in life” would’ve thrown me off too if I was Jenni’s mom.
" Uh, well…I need something to go to the grocery store and wash the car in…perhaps clothes to declutter the house and pack up your stuff… maybe in something darker that won’t show dirt and if it’s suitable for an afternoon nap that would be perfect"…not exactly exciting fashion design. (Although if someone designed comfortable clothes with pockets and padded knees it might be interesting.)

I sympathized with Jenni–with only 45 minutes to consult and sketch she really needed some direction.

@musicmom1215 I think the whole episode was about designing for moms, and those who didnt have a mom got to bring a friend. It puts the contestants in a bad light when they look like they are being difficult, when they may have a very strained relationship with their moms.

Erin has to stop making oversized coats. The judges should make it a requirement for upcoming challenges: no coats allowed! The dress was all kinds of wrong and I agreed with the Zac when he said it was a seasonal mismatch with the coat. If the coat had been more fitted, and in a lighter weight material…maybe.

I agree–no coats or jackets. Lawrence makes great jackets but she does them every week too (although I actually love hers). Erin just needs to stop already.
What happened to evening gowns, uniforms, futuristic design?

The black light challenge was interesting but really limited in many ways since it was more akiin to painting fabric.
Maybe the challenge should be–you can’t make anything you’ve already done more than 4 times in the last 5 shows.

That $50k prize was courtesy of AARP. That seems like a waste of advertising money. Maybe I won’t be joining. I am sure the designers would have been more than happy to win $10k for themselves and $10k for mom.

I finally agreed with the judges this week. I would wear that “mom” dress, with the white stitching, heart, and jacket.

I loved Roberi’s dress - his model just shined in it and I loved the color/pattern combination.

The winning look though not a knockout or unusual did look like it was made extremely well.

I thought the whole “next stage of life” thing was weird - I mean, how did they all “happen” to be moving on to another stage of life!? Some of them had to really scrape the barrel to come up with something!

They have really started to portray or focus on Erin and Dexter being heels. Wonder why. She is very young - 23 - and it’s starting to show in her behavior and her one trick pony. I’m kind of over Dexter too.

finally made it through this episode; after falling asleep numerous times! ma-jing’s outfit for his mom was one of my least favorite things ever. She looked so boxy and machine-like. i thought it was a joke at first. And the $50K total from aarp - that’s a nice award. I wonder if it had to go partly to someone of aarp age; not younger like lawernce’s daughter. ? hoping for better next week

^^^ good point. It would have looked kind of odd for AARP to award to a millennial!

The prizes on Project Runway always seem very generous to me. The winner gets a lot with the sewing machines and work space, even before you consider the ‘spread’ in the magazines and launch of the designer. The weekly winners seem to be in the $5k to $10k range, so this one being $50k just seemed out of line. Lucky Alex.

I liked Rik’s dress a lot and Roberi’s. I liked Ma-Jings outfit…it wasn’t, to my mind, meant to be pretty but rather powerful. Like a record label ninja.

I obviously have zero fashion sense - couldn’t believe how they raved over Erin’s dress. I thought it was hideous.

Little bit mean at the end I thought.

I hated the blue ruffle on Erin’s dress but liked the shape of it. Agree with the results.

Oh, I agree with them. Just thought the way it was done was a unnecessarily mean. Part of the “show” I guess.

I didnt get the ruffle on Erins dress. She is lucky two were worse than hers.

Erin was in the top 3, so more than 2 were worse in the eyes of the judges. I didn’t like her design either, but it was a great improvement over that first atrocity she was working on, which would have been certain elimination.

I agree with the judges that Cornelius and Mahjong had the top 2 designs this week. I preferred Mahjong’s design a bit better, but I think Cornelius edged him out on execution and construction.

Overall, I liked the designs tonight, especially from Cornelius and Mah Jing. I liked Roberi’s hot pink dress, but it didn’t fit the challenge as well. I agree on Erin’s ruffle, but loved the style and the fabric of the dress. I might have sent home Rik for that Statue of Liberty mess. I thought it was humorous when Heidi found out the model supplied her own undergaments.

Agree that Cornelius and Mah Jing had the best two looks. Erin’s dress fabric was nice, but the blue ruffle made me think of Little Bo Peep. If the judges “haven’t seen this before,” it’s for good reason!

I thought both Lawrence and Roberti (the ‘safe’ designs) had much better dresses than Erin’s and I don’t think she should have been in the top 3.
