Tuition Exchange for Fall 2024 (Class of 2028)

I am trying to get my D to decide on whether she wants to keep Seton Hall. I know there are people on the waitlist. She isn’t ready to give it up quite yet but we will make sure and either accept or decline as soon as we know.

The UR decision was gut wrenching for my D. She was over the top elated at being accepted to her top choice but devastated when she clicked on the TE notification and saw that she was waitlisted. We both broke down in tears bc a waitlist is like a “soft” rejection.

Some on here have contacted the TE dept to see where they are on the waitlist. Helpful to either have hope or decide to move on.

No on TE from Baylor

Just noticed Baylor wasn’t on the spreadsheet. It was a no for us. I don’t want to add it, because I WILL screw up the page!

@hb2024trackmom would you add Baylor to the spreadsheet? I’m nervous to add not knowing what happended before. Are you just adding a row where it would fall in alpha order?

Oh sorry, didn’t mean to ask the wrong person!

I added Baylor for you. Yes - just in alpha order and I just ‘add a row’ before or after and it keeps the same formatting as above or below. Its just hard with so many people editing that things happen and everyone is listed anonymous. No worries, I do not mind adding new schools if needed.

For some reason I’m not able to locate the spreadsheet to update it (my son is a no on Baylor). I feel like I’m going nuts. lol. Can someone help me out?

ETA: Found it! But I am still nuts.

Just wanted to put it in the thread a little closer to the bottom so we don’t have to wade through

And @Sam19956 congrats to your child!

Thank you! This tuition exchange has been quite the ride. Some of the acceptances were surprises. We never visited or had contact with some of the schools. However, one of the denials was a school we visited and he had been in touch with on a frequent basis. I am glad we have another four years before we go through this again with our daughter. I really hope she just wants to go to our home school so we can just skip this whole process.

I entered your awards in the spreadsheet

It IS one heck of a ride. Mysterious as to how schools award in many cases!

Congrats all all the acceptances! Would you be willing to share any stats? My son is also considering Hobart and William Smith but I’m not sure he’s competitive. I’ve been on these boards for a few years and I feel like it’s one that rarely comes up. Any info much appreciated!

His gpa is 95 percent unweighted and 99 percent weighted. I’m not sure the actual conversion to a gpa. No SATS submitted. His school offers no AP’s but he was in all advanced and honor courses. As well as college level courses. He also was a three season athlete and captain of two teams. Also he was vice president of student council and had several positions in a few clubs. He was heavily involved in his school. I’m not saying this to brag but I think this made a difference in acceptances. He got into some non TE schools which we thought may have been a reach with just his grades. I am advising my daughter who will be starting high school to get involved in lots of things and leadership positions if possible.

Thank you for sharing. That sounds very impressive! My boy’s a B+ student taking mostly APs with a lot of investment in his film and arts curriculum, but no where near as many ECs for sure. Might as well keep it on the list as he’s looking for a smaller liberal arts college. My daughter went through the process last year and it was grueling through April but it all worked out in the end. Hoping the same for him next year!

I feel for you on wishing that your child would want to attend the home institution. My home institution is niche school that is highly regarded for the arts and communication curriculum. However, my daughter is interested in pre-med and does not want an urban campus so that puts my home institution completely out of the mix.

My S19 received TE from Hobart and William Smith. He had nothing but positive experiences on two visits. At that time I believe they were generous in granting TE to most that applied. He ended up also getting TE at his top choice, Gettysburg so went there. Solid B student, 1170 SAT, eagle scout plus lots of scout leadership, a few other ECs.

Has anyone heard back from WPI or RIT on TE decisions?

That’s great to hear! Thank you for sharing. We’ve got one more year to work on the ECs.
