If I mistyped then I will change the numbers.
this is my sign to not trust random chat rooms! good luck everyone, hope everyone here gets off waitlist.
I did have the right numbers on the original post. Not sure where you pulled the numbers but I added the 2023 data to my original post.
Honestly, past years numbers do not matter that much. Clearly, every year is different, with some years having more waitlist admits than others. As frustrating as it is, all we can do is wait
Somebody definitely gave those lower numbers, saying 33% was the highest OOS yield for the past several years. And it was someone trustworthy! Maybe it wasnât in this thread.
It was this thread. The main person just edited what they previously said
The lady might have posted the inaccurate information. Why you still kept asking her questions?
If this is the case, do u believe its likley they might adjust their admission to accept fewer waitlisted students since last year was such an outlier year in terms of the large amounts of waitlists?
*large amount of students accepted from the waitlist
I do not work in admissions so I am not willing to speculate on what might happen. The FAFSA delay has contributed to an already complicated process with the waitlists. UCLA will do what is best of them based on their priorities.
All anyone can do is hope for the best but get excited about the schools that have accepted you and move forward from there.
@Gumbymom Do you work as college counselor or school counselor? If you do, you should have oppertunity to attend UC conferences, and make connections with UC admissions officersâŠ
All information you posted is publicly available. People asked you questions, they assumed the source of your information is reliable. The discussion here are supposed to be more trustworthy than the random social medias like Reddit.
I do appreciate your dedication.
Gumby mom has been on CC for years and has contributed a great deal of valuable information. Be respectful to her. You seem to be pushing back on any of her comments. If you think you know more about college admissions, especially admissions to the UCâs, then please share all of your valuable information.
She does attend the conferences and she also does this out of the kindness of her heart. Seems like you are looking for someone to tell you that you will get off of the UCLA waitlist. The waitlists are very random each year and only UCLA knows how many kids they will let off of the waitlist. It might just be zero this year. Just like Gumby mom has been trying to explain to you and a few others on here this past week.
Yes, and while the info may be publicly available, Gumbymom is kind enough to dig through the volumes of UC data and find it for us (and post it repeatedly )! Endless appreciation.
I shared more than enough as bearâs parents. Most of the information Gumbymom posted are accurate. Since a random kid complained the yield data she posted here, I doube checked it, she did copy and paste the wrong data.
Some people assume Gumbymom is college counselor, they relay on her answer to make the important decision. If sheâs just a parent like me, she should let people know.
Anyways, I do appreciate her posts, lots of helpful information.
I have never stated I am UC counselor but only a parent volunteer that has been following UC admissions for many years and have helped many friends and family through the process.
Yes, I mistyped the 2022 OOS yield data for UCLA but corrected it as soon as I found the error. I also updated the 2023 yield data and linked the actual data summary. I am like everyone else human and do not mind being corrected for a mistake.
I understand the being waitlisted is âcollege admissions purgatoryâ and individuals are anxious and want concrete answers. Unfortunately, everything is in the hands of admissions so all students can do is to be patient and wait for their decision one way or another.
There are never any guarantees in life but where you go for Undergrad will not define you, it is what you do with opportunities you are given that make you successful.
So we do not derail this discussion any further, fingers crossed that waitlist decisions will be posting soon.
I will third that Gumbymom is a very reliable source of information and does yeomanâs work on these boards without any compensation. Everyone makes mistakes but I trust her information more than just about anyone on these boards. I donât believe she has ever stated sheâs a college counselor (although that might be inferred) nor ever tried to solicit business from anyone. Relying on what anonymous people post on these boards to make decisions is perilous. CC is a useful guide but I would never suggest folks treat this as gospel no matter who the source is.
Gumbymom more than anyone posts facts and pretty neutral observations based on her experience and insights. I donât ever recall her ever getting into any subjective debates that rage on these boards sometimes. We appreciate her work. Thatâs why you are likely to encounter posters coming to her defense whether you intended offense or not.
My nephew is waitlisted at UCLA, but he has Cal and private schools. College admissions is not new for me, I experienced the painful process with my older son.
Some kids here seem anxious to find out the waitlist timelines, I totally understand and I tried to help. If you let people know youâre just parents, then could save lots of unnecessary messages here.
not to change subject, but i am assuming no students have been admitted off the waitlist today. Is this correct?

Correct, no waitlist admits as of yet.
