You committed to two schools?
Did you really SIR to two schools? Or did you state that incorrectly?
Yes, SIRed to both, and paid $300 to USC and $250 for a UC.
Yes, but still want to attend the Dream School UCLA.
I would immediately withdraw from one of them if I were you. Committing to more than one school is breaking a contract with each school meaning that if either school knew about this they would withdraw your acceptance.
āColleges and universities do check, and they do and will rescind admissions offers if they get wind of double depositing. This year, with waitlists larger than ever at some schools, I expect they will be looking more closely at double depositing issues and the risk of having an offer rescinded will rise accordingly.ā

Considering drop one.
Yeah⦠definitely donāt commit to two schools at onceā¦not worth it.
Did you take out loans or your parents will pay for the cost? USC might be cheaper for OOS.
Nothing wrong with it, my nephew also SIRāed two schools because of uncertainty. He prefers UCLA.
Actually, it is 100% wrong and unethical. It is one of the primary affirmations that all applicants agree to within the common app and sign their name to. This is what it says:
āI affirm that I will send an enrollment deposit (or equivalent) to only one institution; sending multiple deposits (or equivalent) may result in the withdrawal of my admission offers from all institutions.ā
If you are going to double deposit, just make sure you finalize your decision ASAP for the people on the waitlist.
Hopefully it is not 2 UCās since they will know about the double depositing and will rescind the acceptances after the May 15 deadline.
From the UC website:
While students can opt in to multiple UC campus waitlists, they can only accept one offer of admission.
I definitely agree that you should not commit to more than one school.
But, how would the UCs know if you committed to more than one UC. Everyone says the admissions offices are not in contact and that it would be collusion?
What was your thought process in accepting spots at 2 schools?
The amount of people I have been hearing say they are opting into waitlists āas a backup in case [they] change their mindā irks me. They donāt realize that some people would die for a spot at these schools.
He SIRāed Cal and a T25 school (not in CA). If he gets off UCLA waitlist, he will rescind both. He applied for many merit scholarships, need to hear back from schools before we make the final decision, heās also waiting for the response on AP/DE credits and intercollegiate major change.
Heās not CA resident, he needs scholarships to make up some difference.
UCLA doesnāt really give many scholarships. Especially for out of state kids.
We know, trying to change residency status and appeal the FA offer.
Ohh makes more sense. Have been living in California for over a year?
