EA decisions have always been released all at once. Post-Pandemic, EA decisions have been released on or about the last Friday in January.
Several years ago, RD decisions were released in waves around mid-February, mid-March and mid-April. That’s no longer the case. Now, the vast majority of RD decisions are released in late March.
A few smaller schools, such as SMTD, Architecture, etc. have their own admission policies and schedules and may not agree with the above schedules.
Ross will have it’s own RD releases, mid-February, mid-March and mid-April. Read their BBA blog, because they’ll post their RD decision dates in the coming weeks.
Everyone knows “somebody” or “someone,” that’s the Internet for ya.
Maybe, it’s entirely within the realm of possibilities, since Michigan has 10 +/- undergraduate schools and lots of scholarships that have various time horizons, where somebody or someone may hear earlier. However, 99% of the EA applicants will hear late January.
Here on CC, Reddit, etc., EA decisions were released on Friday, January 27, 2023.
EA Nursing decisions being released early was for one year only, 2 years ago. But for that one year EA decisions were released days/week (or two) earlier. I can’t remember the specifics.

Both of her brothers go to Michigan & I went as well, both grandparents too
So in theory and on the common data set for Michigan legacy isn’t really considered anymore but it also seems like lots of people with legacy are at Michigan. It’s a hard get OOS but you already have kids there. What is the reputation of your school sending students to Michigan with her stats? That would be more meaningful then a stranger just guessing. Chancing used to be fun when there were only 55,000 applicants. But now with around 90,000 it’s just guessing unless your a scholarship athlete or the like. Your daughter is more then capable. As you probably know with your sons, Michigan is a hard school. People don’t realize it till they get there but for many accomplished students it’s a quick wake up call. But worth the grind in the end.
Good luck to your daughter and again look at her current schools stats and relationship with Michigan. Always good to have some safeties she’s happy to attend and of course affordable.
Also just fyi, they have updated the admissions section of the early action page to confirm that the decision in January is either accept, deny, or postpone, I guess I wasn’t the only one confused!
When your decision is ready to view, you will be sent an email notification from Michigan.Admissions@umich.edu with the subject line “Your University of Michigan Application Status Has Been Updated.” The decision notification email will NOT be sent if you have already viewed your decision in Enrollment Connect. Please add this email address to your safe list so that your notification does not go to your junk or spam folder. However, given variations in online security, we recommend that you check both your inbox and junk mail folders just to be sure. Notifications will be released to the email address you provided on your application.
I got a recommendation letter from a researcher at the University of Michigan. Will it boost my application? We worked closely on my capstone project during a summer program in Ann Arbor.
It won’t hurt it. Lol. They review your “whole” application. If everything measures up this could help. They truly do a holistic review of your application. Good Luck.
Does anyone know if it helps your chance of admission if you go on an in person tour? We are OOS but UMich has recently become my daughter’s top choice. She applied EA. Thanks!
If you can afford to visit then I would. But whether it increases your chances is debatable since many oos and international students never visit. My son did visit but also had scheduled time to talk with the head of a department he was interested in. Both my kids did this with certain schools.
They used that experience in their essays.
If there is anything you sign into then they might see it, if that makes sense.
When we went for a tour a family arrived late and went to register their arrival in admissions after the tour. The person at the desk said it’s not necessary since they don’t track demonstrated interest. The parent was insistent asking “are you sure? Don’t you want to mark us down?” And admissions repeated “no it makes no difference.”
