University of South Carolina Early Action Class of 2030 Official Thread

My Child admitted to BME (OOS). hoping for some form of meritbased scholarship. We haven’t heard anything until now. Does that mean we do not get any?

You can email admissions and ask. In the past, you were given an advanced notification of a minimum you’d receive. And you received the formal amount later.

If you’re OOS, you can figure out where you’d be (in range of) but you need to know how to figure out the SC GPA.

Best to email (or call) and ask.

Good luck.

I also see sat score range. that is our best option. But will score alone be enough?

No - but it sounds like you got into Florida - if you got in UF, I can’t imagine you’re not getting money at U of SC. But you’d have known by now.

Each school calculates GPA differently - so your GPA might not be what you see.

We got in 5 years ago - maybe it’s changed - but back then you were told up front a minimum.

Reach out and ask - your life will be much easier.

Agree the USC recalculates gpa. I may have to call them. Thanks.

admissions office says mid-march we may get to know about it.

I wonder if we will hear about the honors college today. I hope so!

Last round of honors decisions are out. Mine was waitlisted.

Daughter was admitted to honors today as a nursing student which is huge as it is the only path for direct admit nursing!

Mine was rejected, but she is not terribly disappointed, she knew how competitive it is. She has amazing other options as well. Hope yours gets off the waitlist.

Anybody else get an email from USCAID@sc.edu with a vip id and link to enable SC to provide aid-related info electronically? Just want to make sure it’s legit. Looks slightly fishy. Don’t like clicking on unknown links in an email.

Yes! And we were deferred EA so I’m confused.

My daughter did. This was the same type of communication my ds got. He just graduated from U of sc last May. Fingers crossed!

Just curious, did you list South Carolina as one of the college on FAFSA?

My student hasn’t received and they were deferred to. Did you list South Carolina on the FAFSA?

Yes.

So does this mean anything

My son did too, who is currently deferred, and he did set it up. Basically, it’s their financial portal where financial aid and scholarships show up, so you can see the total costs, it seems. There is zero info there as of now, which makes sense since deferred. It would be silly to send if getting a rejection, but I am not surprised by anything in the college admissions process at this point, so it probably means nothing  . We visited last April, and my son really liked it, but I think it fizzled out a little on his list after the deferral.
