University of South Carolina Early Action Class of 2030 Official Thread

I’m not sure the reason behind that some heard. Maybe it’s less competitive majors? Our stats in state sport management 4.3 weighted 3.7 unweighted. Half honors and a few DE, decent Extracurricular. Did not submit scores. Very competitive school I believe he was close to top 30 percent

S26 received an email to check the portal for a status update. Applied in October.

I would consider him to be a high stats kid applying to a non-competitive major. If this is at all similar to what happened with my D20 and D23, this is likely a pretty limited in-state wave of acceptances with lots more still to come!

My OOS daughter, 4.35 weighted, got into Delaware and Penn State. Her #1 is USC! She’s nervous. Do you think getting into those two were good signs?

What majors is everyone getting in for right now? Waiting on Pre-Nursing

I can’t answer that, but we are in the exact same situation! My OOS daughter (we are in PA) has gotten into UD, PSU, and Pitt. I feel good about her odds for USC, but I’m not feeling as confident about merit. We would need 10k from USC to stay within our budget. The NPC gave us that, but who knows what the level of applicant is this season! Fingers crossed for us both.

What are considered less completitive majors at USC? I know Darla Moore, nursing and engineering are highly competitive as they are everywhere. My daughter would be comm/broadcast journalism; I know USC has a good program, but I’m assuming that would be considered a non-competitive major here. Does anyone know for sure?

Yea who knows… We’re in a hot spot too. Everyone and their mothers are applying it seems! Really nervous that she won’t get in despite seeming qualified!

Pre nursing here as well OOS though so guessing it will be a while. My S24 heard mid December so I expecting the same for D26.

My daughter is a freshman at South Carolina majoring in Sports

Media. She has almost the exact same stats as your son and she was deferred during EA and accepted during regular decision. She did not get any merit money.

Applying OOS, TO with 3.72W tons of EC and leadership in school and community, shadowing and volunteer work in ICU, EMS, Surgical Center. What are chances at Pre-Nursing since GPA is on low end?

What were her EC’s?

My friend’s daughter was denied for nursing last year with a 4.3 weighted and 1260 SAT score. She was accepted for biology though. Nursing is extremely competitive and it should be a reach.

Thanks for this update. I didn’t know if pre-nursing was different. Exercise Science is her back-up

Will EA drop tonite ?

Will it help that my son is one of the only boys at his school applying?

Two years ago my son was deferred EA. Got accepted in early March for his second major choice. Then got an email in April that he could go for his first choice which was International Business (very competitive). At that point he already chose another school. So it seems they may have accepted a lot of kids that decided to go elsewhere then came back around to others extending different offers.

Do people think more students will be admitted during Early Action this year?

yes, my older son had the same experience that year –2024. Was deferred. then accepted. told there was no more room in bus school, so told to pick another major. Then told towards end of spring he was admitted to bus school. By that time, he had already committed to another univ and it was tough to switch mentally to another uni so late in the year.
