Yes, I know people who got accepted for specific majors last year.
Yes. They accept by major.
Based off last year, yes.
He’s a Data Analytics major. And yes everyone he knew got off the waitlist, but most people get accepted into a different major if theirs is competitive. The common data set for the waitlist is BS. Excuse my language.
Is undecided best option?
Would it help my sons applying to comms?
Do most non 4.0+ OOS students get deferred? And would anyone know avg % of deferred students that get submitted and when they would typically find out? TIA
S24 was accepted EA with 3.9 and a 30 ACT- of course that was two years ago so who knows what will happen this year.
yes
3.9 SC Gpa?
No, OOS 3.9 out of 4.0
What was weighted? Any APs, good ECs, etc?
That was his weighted- 5 APs, decent ECs, nothing crazy. Accepted major was Political Science.
I have been trying to figure out the EA deferrals on this list. It’s not obvious how they determine who gets deferred. My guess is they use multiple factors/triggers.
His weighted was 3.9 on 4 scale?
Note the majors on the forms… If you were to ask me, if you have under 4.7 weighted expect to be deferred then get in. Under 4.0, you aren’t getting in.
Seems like test scores matter, but again not sure how they weigh this vs essay/EC’s.
I’ve said this before, but I do think its major specific. My S25 Engineering kid had over a 4.0 recalculated + 35 ACT + AP Scholar w Distinction etc etc etc and was deferred EA but got in RD. Based on the last few years, expect a referral in EA but admit for RD.
Yes
Where would College of Information and Communications rank among competitiveness? Especially the Public Relations major.
Any idea when EA decisions will be available?
