It’s U of Florida!
What’s #2?
FSU since I got an OOS tuition waiver
I hope you will update on the “can more seniors do results” threads, I think you and my D24 applied to some of the same schools! Good luck Friday!

Thanks! I will definently update the community at the end. I’ve been thinking about doing a post sharing my final results along with some advice before I finish up my time on CC.
I ended up calling back the honors office this morning. They confirmed over the phone that it was a mistake. My daughter should not have received the honors lunch invite(it allowed us to register and everything). The young lady was very bubbly but didn’t explain why they neglected to email my daughter back one way or the other, no communication was sent. Kind of rude to leave her hanging like that. I’m not sure they were ever going to email back after checking into it. Anywhoo. It appears some people have the honors lunch listed by mistake on their Vol admit days. If you need to check for your child, it was very easy to get in touch with the Honors office. (865) 974-7875. Good luck to your kiddo!
I’m sorry to hear about this error. I hope they address this to the others who have selected this lunch option if it doesn’t apply to them…Geez, what a let down for you and your daughter.
To be honest, we hadn’t noticed because we hadn’t scheduled a comeback day yet, but I checked my D’s account after reading on this forum that someone else had this issue and sure enough, the lunch was there in her portal. So there was a slight hope that maybe the denial was a mistake but it’s OK. She had already accepted the fact that she wasn’t in the honors college, but a better follow-up would have been nice. I just hope there aren’t any hopeful folks that show up to the lunch only to realize they’re not supposed to be there - ouch! Hopefully, this doesn’t apply to too many people.
That would be horrible for someone to attend, who shouldn’t have received the invitation!!
I think the good news is, if your daughter chooses to attend UTK and she prefer to be in the honors college she can apply after her first semester. There may be specific rules per major but I’m pretty sure she should be able to apply again. She could probably use one of her first semester professors for a recommendation.
Have you asked if the honors office ever reconsiders the decision?
Ya, I did not register for it. After the denial, my son was upset. So I dug into Reddit and other online chats about it. All of them say it’s a headache for nothing a few benefits. I told him he could reapply if he wanted. Then he went to school where lots of people were saying they were denied also. I do wonder though how they made the choice who to accept and who not to. It was not on ACT or GPA from what I can tell.
I did not ask that but that is a good thought. The woman I spoke with did mention that if you come to UT and have a successful first semester, you can reapply to the Honors College and will be up against a smaller pool of candidates with a higher likelihood of acceptance. It is my understanding that freshman class registration is one of the biggest benefits so I’m not sure how worth it would be to do this.
Any word on when decisions will be out?
Crossing fingers & toes that they do what they did in Dec and announce just before 5pm today that decisions will be released in the Vols portals ![]()
It can’t hurt, worse they can say is no?!?!
UT Admissions posted in reply comment yesterday on instagram saying late February, so I’m thinking it won’t be today. ![]()
Have you visited to know this one is really your dream school?
Yes I have visited. It’s the one.
I called the admissions office and asked when we can expect decisions, and the woman I spoke with said they haven’t been informed of a particular date but, “it’s typically the last week in February.” If I remember correctly, it was the 21st last year, correct? She ended however with saying, “it could be any day now,” so it sounds like it’ll be kind of random like the EA round. I do want to note that I called the admissions office the day of decisions for the EA round, and I was told they hadn’t received a date yet, but it then came out a few hours later.
