Not necessarily. My kid got one later. It was a very niche scholarship. There are some that require additional applications, definitely scan through the scholarship hubs because some of those have deadlines that are likely coming up. I think the one my kid got needed to have a FAFSA filed. And no we don’t qualify for FA anywhere, perhaps to verify you don’t qualify for a pell grant.
But goingsnake demonstrated, they do have a few generous programs out there. If I were a guessing person, this is probably also a niche scholarship. If you go dig through the hub, you get an idea of what I mean (specific major or program, background, geographic area of origin, etc).
In last year’s CDS, 4.7% of first year students recieved merit with an average award of $8336.
Accepted for College of Letters and Science with Computer Science study plan. (Remember most of us admit to University except few direct admit majors).
Out-of-state, 3.87 UW, SAT with 800 on Math, 10 APs and DE. Solid extracurriculars with leadership!
No merit.
Contrary to what many believe, students are not admitted directly into the CS major. Students will spend time as a non-declared student while they work towards the major declaration requirements outlined below. Students can declare the CS major as soon as they have satisfied those major declaration requirements, which will take most students two semesters.
Hi, sorry if this has already been asked/answered, but I couldn’t find it in the thread. Does anyone know roughly the percentage of people who are deferred and get offered spaces in March? Trying to gauge chances for someone with strong mid-year grades and who can honesty state that it’s my top choice school
To the best of my knowledge, official numbers are not published anywhere. There was a NY Times article a couple of years ago that stated that Wisconsin deferred 17,000 of its 45,000 early action applicants.
Last year it seemed like quite a few deferred students on CC received an offer during Regular Decision. Waiting stinks, but it’s worth it for your top choice.
I do not have info on the number of deferred students accepted but here is the CDS waitlist info from last year. I think this number is really high. A lot of schools only offer spots to waitlisted kids in the double digits but this states they offered spots to over 4000 out of 7000 kids, so more than half? I know every year is different but these odds seem pretty good if I’m interpreting the data correctly.
Does anyone know how difficult it is to transfer into the business school from pre-business in arts & sciences? Or what percentage of students they usually accept? All the other schools my son got into were direct admit into their business schools. I can’t imagine its like a Michigan Ross situation where like only 10% of applicants are accepted but just curious how competitive the process is.
Those numbers were from fall 2023. The year before they admitted only 11 students from the waitlist. Fall 2024 numbers aren’t out yet but I’ve been told they’re way closer to 11 than 4,400.
The bottom line is they’re still trying to figure out how to accurately predict yields. It will be complicated this year by the Wisconsin Guarantee admissions. My best guess is this year will be somewhere from 0 to 10,000.
Of course, it’s too early to be talking about waitlists.
