UNOFFICIAL THREAD TO MAKE COMMENTS ABOUT NOT-SO-NEW CC SITE

Dropdowns are still too big, too sensitive and back to being on 2 rows. And for as sensitive as the dropdowns are, the inbox and notifications are the opposite. Often when I click on a post within either of those, it doesn’t respond, and/or I get the ($<em>W)W(^</em>)%&$&*) dropdown box. Sorry but its annoying :frowning:

Duly noted, jym626. You say the dropdowns are on 2 rows. I have never seen this. On which device are you seeing this?

I am on my PC

When you say the dropdowns are on two rows, are you referring to the four nav buttons across the top? Is one of those buttons wrapping to a second row? Or is something else happening when the menu expands? I tried viewing on all three browsers on a PC and everything looks fine to me.

yes, the free Resources tab is on a second row. Those tabs are HUGE and the icons above them are microscopic.

How wide is your browser window? I only see the menu dropdowns on two rows if I make my window pretty narrow, and if I make it narrow enough each dropdown gets its own row.

With the inbox menu I’ve discovered that even though the entire message highlights, only the user name is clickable. If you click anywhere else, nothing will happen.

With the notification menu, the whole message can be clicked on except for the “commented on” text and the time stamp. And if you accidentally click on “commented on” far enough to the left, when the notification menu goes away the cursor can be on top of one of the dropdowns, which will then open up.

I can’t think of any reason why only portions of the inbox and notifications menu entries would be clickable, but that’s how it works.

@Lenitus, keep making your browser window more and more narrow. Eventually the tabs will be split into multiple rows.

I do think “huge” and “microscopic” is a bit of exaggeration.

On my screen the huge ones are 3/4 inch X 2 1/2 inch EACH. The icons are 3/16 X 3/16. Teeny tiny. And too small for my old eyes and fat fingers.

And I am using chrome. Doesnt matter if I make the window bigger or smaller on my screen. Still in 2 rows.

Weird. I just tried chrome, and I never see two rows. I see either one row (which goes to a scrollbar at the bottom when it gets narrow enough), or four rows.

Ok- its a chrome issue. I opened it in IE on my smaller monitor and the square tabs are smaller and the icons are bigger.

that is weird. As I just posted, its fine on my smaller screen- using IE, but not in chrome, on my bigger monitor (I have them side by side). If I knew how to do the screenshot I’d post them.

I can get them to show on either one row or four rows (depending on how much I re-size the screen). Can’t reproduce the single item wrapping to a second row.

Chrome and FF and IE pretty much all look the same to me. In fact, I have Chrome and FF up at the same time and when I switch back and forth to view them I see no change in element size.

Maybe the two rows for me is an artifact of my page customizations. I am running Firefox.

I do notice in chrome the icons in the upper right are bigger on the home page than on the forum page.

On chrome, mine goes to the 4 lines when I zoom to 200%. But then, everything else is larger, too. Just saying.

How do I take a screenshot?

Ah…yes, now I see what you mean about the changes in icon size. They get smaller going from <a href=“http://www.collegeconfidential.com”>www.collegeconfidential.com</a> to talk.collegeconfidential.com. I was staying within the Talk portion before.

You can click the “Print Screen” button in the top right of your keyboard and paste it into an e-mail. I’ll send you the e-mail address via a PM. I would instruct you to post the image inline here on the forum, but we want to discourage use of the image code (as it has been used for ads and other inappropriate materials, and should be going away at some point).

I am trying to load a google screenshot app but chrome says its unsecure

Yeah, you can either magnify the page as you did, or gradually reduce the browser window size. In the latter case, nothing gets bigger, but the screen gets smaller. End result of both is that the menu items tile on four rows.
