Hey folks,
I still can’t flag/report threads…I’ve tried Firefox, Chrome, and IOS. It says I don’t have permission. This the report going through and I’m just not seeing it?

I’m having the same problem. Can’t do like, can’t edit, this is my second machine. What’s going on?
Actually, DrGoogle, this issue has been discussed in a separate thread. Things should be back to normal last I checked…though you may need to clear your cache. Please see: <a href=“Can't edit, like, or flag "must enable javascript" - College Confidential Community - College Confidential Forums”>Can't edit, like, or flag "must enable javascript" - College Confidential Community - College Confidential Forums;
Sorry for the inconvenience. Thanks!
It just happens recently. This is my second computer.
It was happening to me yesterday (javascript error of some kind) but it’s OK today.
I haven’t been able to flag a post since the redesign on any browser. I clear my cache regularly and there is no change.
Hmmm…are you just using a desktop computer? With the exception of the aforementioned on-and-off issues, I have not had any trouble with these features on any browser on multiple desktop computers.
Would someone be able to give us an update on the status of a couple of improvements that have been frequently discussed here? I’m wondering in particular about the ability to bookmark forums and sub-forums, and an ‘activity indicator’ of some sort so that it’s easy to see at a glance which forums/sub-forums have had activity.
And is the IPad application ever going to actually BE an iPad application again?
I’ve heard that the “activity indicator” on forums and subforums will likely happen much sooner than bookmarking of forums and sub-forums. The old site had such an indicator, and I know it was very useful (especially for the MT forums and alphabetical school lists).
With 4x more traffic from smartphones than tablets on CC I’m quite sure the priority will be on getting a working/improved iPhone/Android app.
CC can tell what device I’m using?
Most sites can, actually. It is to ensure you get the best experience. Try visiting YouTube on your smartphone (not via the app, but through the browser). It should take you to m.youtube.com automatically. That’s the mobile version of the site.
Oh for heavens sake. I have 250 apps on my iPad and MOST are for both the IPhone AND IPad. It doesn’t have to be one or the other.
Probably a dumb question but I will ask anyway. When I used to open cc it took me directly to the thread that I had indicated I wanted.(university of Maryland- College Park) I guess like my personal homepage. Now when I open cc it brings me to the true cc homepage. I can’t find how to change it to the particular thread that I want upon opening.
What are you using to open the site? Are you clicking on a bookmark? Is it re-directing you to the home page after you log in? Just trying to understand how you are interacting with the site. Thanks!
Hi, thanks for responding. I am using the cc ap. Is there a way to open to the page I want? Since it’s an ap I stay logged in.
Hmmm…as one who has never really used the app (now or then, due to being a die-hard desktop user) I don’t have a lot of familiarity with its features. Are you saying the old app used to have a functionality that allowed you to set a home page of sorts? I’ve also reached out to our product manager for any insight he can give.
I thought I did. However, maybe it was just bookmarked on my phone. That seems like the best way I guess. I’m not a huge fan of the app anyway. I’ve always had it, but maybe I did just access it from my bookmarks and not the app itself. I appreciate your time. If you do find a way, let me know please. Thanks again!
Sure thing!
I occasionally access CC from my (Android) phone and I’ve found simply using the regular mobile site works better. The layout works on my phone quite well. AND I can bookmark whatever page I want to start on (for me that’s my bookmarks, it used to be that REALLY useful page with bookmarked topics AND bookmarked sub-forums).
Speaking of, has anyone mentioned how hard it is to keep up with sub-forums without that feature yet this month? How lots of posters used to participate in a lot of college-specific forums but now can’t be bothered to click/scroll 5x to get to each one?
I personally made a workaround involving a bookmark document I created and store locally on my desktop, which saves me the multiple scrolls and clicks but doesn’t show me if any new posts are in that forum. If I can do that, surely the no-doubt highly compensated developers at Hobsons can offer something similar? Heck, <em>I</em> could write it and I am a mere web developer who does dbase programming only in Cold Fusion.
/rant. I know the site is missing a lot of pageviews, not to mention helpful posts from alumni and other interested parties who used to monitor those school-specific forums. IMO getting that functionality back should be a priority.
