Sue me, I created a new account with another email. I’m happy to delete it once my old account is back up and running properly (taverngirl). Was unable to login via email (are changes tested before going live???) but of course couldn’t post that I was having issues! Thank you @4kids4us for your suggestion because now at least I know it’s not just me. I can’t believe after the problems with the new site they decided to make another big change (which seems completely unnecessary). Will the member population drop yet again??

Count me as another person who had to create a new login to get on CC. I used the same avatar as my old username so I can be recognized.
This whole site is increasingly frustrating. Here are a few comments:
- I asked on my post #12 on this thread how this new login procedure would benefit users of CC and nobody gave an answer. So far I see a lot of aggravation and no benefit.
- I cannot believe that this login method was properly tested in advance as so many people having issues.
- I saw right away that my username and password do not meet the criteria that are now set up. Could that be the problem? If so how was it not recognized that not all usernames and passwords meet the new criteria. People could have been informed to change their passwords in advance of the new login being set up. And will people will a shorter username lose their history?
- Can you revert back to the old login procedure until such time as the problem is fixed.
- Why was this done now -- so close to ED/EA decisions rather than during a quieter period for college admissions?
- Please feel free to merge this with my regular happy1 account if/when this every gets sorted out.

Still curious @CCadmin_Sorin what new great thing this is supposed to be doing. If nothing, just be honest about it. Lots of other posters were wanting an answer as well. The initial post made it sound like we were getting new features, if so please elaborate.

@CCadmin_Sorin I just tested out my iPad to see if the banner I suggested could be seen on my iPad. Unfortunately, there is NO banner on the main forum page. I started clicking on the links in the “Highlighted Forums” section, and nearly all of them just gave me the error code I mentioned either here or on the other thread. Finally, I clicked on one and saw the red Warning Banner. But then when I tried to access that same forum again, I once again got the error page. It appears that for any forum previously visited, an error code appears immediately. The only reason I saw that red banner is b/c it was a forum I have never previously visited, so I didn’t get the error code.
So I’m going to guess that there are plenty of people out there who are unable to figure out what is going on b/c they are trying to access the forums they always go to, and are not able to get pass the error code. They will only see the red banner in the off chance they select a forum they haven’t previously visited.
Hopefully that explanation is clear? The banner really needs to go at the top of every page, including the main College Confidential Forum page - that is the only page I’m able to see/access but there is no banner there.
It’s rather unfortunate that it is taking CC so long to figure out what the problem is and those unable to log in have no way of even knowing what is going on. Doesn’t CC have a database of everyone’s email? Perhaps an email sent to all accounts explaining there is a problem?
I passed on the feedback and am waiting for a reply. It worked for me so I wanted to confirm the issue was fixed for everyone.

I believe this may have been the issue. My pw did not have a symbol, and once I was able to do a pw reset (which was not possible earlier today), I was finally able to log in. @CCadmin_Sorin
I was able to now sign in on Chrome (macbook pro), needed to reset password.
Still can’t login on Firefox (my preferred browser)…when you click the sign in button, this error comes up:

@CCadmin_Sorin now I can’t even access the main Forum page when I click on the link from CC home page. Now it seems the main CC home page is the only thing that will open on my iPad. I get error message for any link to Forum pages and no ability to see that red warning banner at all.
But yes, at least now I’m not seeing double at the bottom of posts. That is the least of everyone’s worry though it seems at this point.
I’m back! (Obviously) But I had to change my password as the old password did not have a symbol. @happy11 Until now the system did not even recognize my email so it was more than a password issue.
When I saw the announcement over the weekend that there would be a new login procedure I thought “This ought to be fun”.
At least the overwriting of the Agree/Like/Helpful icons has been fixed.
@happy11 what is the new log in criteria? I’m ok for now b/c I can use my Mac which is still logged in but I can’t even create a new log in on my iPad even if I wanted to. When I click on any of the sign in or the sign up buttons, I still get an error code. It won’t even let me access the sign in page at all.
What is the new password criteria? My old one has numbers and letters, including one capital letter, is 10 characters long and includes no symbols or special characters. Never had an issue with that type of password on any other website I access.
See mu post above “Your password must be 8-16 characters and contain at least 1 letter, 1 number and symbol.”
I still cannot log in with my email address On my iPhone to request a change to my password . I’m afraid to close the window on my iPad for fear I’ll never get back in.
Thank you @happy11 and @TomSrOfBoston. I tried to reset my password last night and this morning but kept getting an error message. It wasn’t until I read your posts that I tried requesting another PW reset and included characters so that I was able to log on.
I log on everyday - usually multiple times a day - but log off after each time. I didn’t see the blue banner alerting me to this thread until yesterday (12/9/19). There was no notification that I needed to change my PW.
Seriously, in this day and age of logging in and out of just about everything we do, who is being paid to make a change in log in procedures that doesn’t realize you need to notify people in a timely fashion before making a change?
I go to reset password and still am getting an error message!
I haven’t seen any new posts on topics since about 11am EST.
