@Knowsstuff - so clearing the cache didn’t work on my phone. How do you clear the cc history on a phone? I selected “clear history and website data” but no luck getting cc to work.
Or, you know, wing it.
I finally was able to get on CC on my phone. I changed my password on my desktop computer first (I couldn’t do it on my phone). Then I cleared the website history on my iPhone under Safari in settings. After that, I could log in on my phone. Kind of an ordeal. We’re going to lose a lot of people.
I would consider changing my password (though VERY hesitant to mess with this since I am logged in) if I could even GET TO THAT OPTION. But I get an “oops an error occurred” when I ask it to send me an email.
@jym626. My browser when I go to the 3 dots in the upper right corner it says history and how many days to delete. On my phone it shows CC and a check box next to it. I had to go out 1 week to get it to work. I think I know why but that’s not important till everyone gets on the same page and can log in.
Also on the applications where CC will be listed even if it’s not a true application, I deleted that cache. Restated my phone so it will take effect then deleted the history. Restarts my phone then make a new password. I thought my old password was fine also but added the! At the end and then everything worked.
Hope that helps and is clear. It’s frustrating to say the least.
I do beta testing for some companies and would love to help out here. Maybe get a focus group to test before any release. Crazy idea huh?
What kind of phone do you have, @Knowsstuff ? I have , AFAIK, cleared the cache in my phone a gazillion times, but each time I do its blue again instead of grey
So I had to creat a new account in order to get on because my husband closed CC on my iPad. @CCadmin_Sorin , is there any update? I haven’t had any email from admin@collegeconfidential.com either. I cleared the cache and tried what was suggested. It just keeps telling me there’s an error and to contact the email address. This is ridiculous.
Out of the blue, password change page popped up.
But you missed a hot post from me about the lack of clarity and folks posting ‘sure thing’ solutions that only work for them. Or 1-2 others.
Where did your password change pop up?
@MaineLonghorn clearing the “history” is key! The cache will only get you so far.
@jym626 Pixel 3A with new Android 10 updates applied the day before this tool effect. But that should not matter.
Going to be driving 5 hours soon but will check in later when I get gas.
Good Luck.
Maybe I did get an email. This luxury change has hose my email set up and I’m plenty aggravated.
Resist the urge to rush out untested changes. You know the platforms we use and the devices- cell, tablet, laptop, desktop.
What is the difference between clearing the cache and clearing the history? And how do you clear a cache??? (asking for a CC’er who is having no luck and is on a PC)
Would be helpful to know this for both PC and Mac.
Much easier to just Google this for your own device and browser so people don’t follow the wrong information.
So I was able to create a new password, but first, I had to use my phone to try and log in on my usual account, then request a link to set up a new password. Someone else mentioned using the phone too.
I got the error message whenever I tried to use my phone to get the password reset email. I had to do it on my computer.
@jym626 Passwords must now have a symbol.
Still get the error others showed above when I try to sign in on iPad. I got in on phone and changed to new password but on iPad no luck
I was going to suggest you guys try the change password option in your profile->Preferences-> Change Password but even though i am finally in with a new PW, I get an error on that page
The only thing I cleared in my browser was cookies associated with this site. Did not clear any cache or history otherwise.
But that was only to get past an initial problem of not even being able to get to the email/password input.
After getting there, it did not work, and neither did the password reset. Later (presumably after they fixed something, but also after my remaining login on a mobile device timed out), the password reset worked.
Clearing cookies depends on your browser, but it should be in a settings or preferences menu, possibly under a privacy or security submenu.
Guys, the reason I provided no update is because the team is still working on resolving the situation. We are making progress and have identified what the issues are and are now working on rolling out fixes. Unfortunately until this is done, nothing will happen. If you tried the things I listed out previously but still can’t log in, you need to wait for the team to push out the fixes. I’m sorry for this, I know it’s extremely unpleasant, but we need to stay put and wait until the backend work is done. I received all your messages and emails and will get back as soon as I have news. Thanks for your understanding!
