Every parent category has a distinct color. I think the main goal is to help with navigation and classification. We don’t really use that so I’d say those are of no importance to us and can be disregarded.
@DadOfJerseyGirl, I think so.
Let me see what can be done about the “New.”
@DadOfJerseyGirl, can you share the link to the “New” page? The generic page I mean.
The option to view new threads only seems to be available when there are new threads that I haven’t viewed or dismissed yet. So I currently don’t have an option to navigate there since I’m all caught up. Once there’s a new thread I’ll post the link here.
Funny thing, Latest was already included on there under Topics. I’ve remove Topics.
Also, @DadOfJerseyGirl and @GKUnion, New and Unread have been added.
Fantastic, I see it now. Thank you so much!
For your reference, here’s the URL:
https://talk.collegeconfidential.com/new
Thank you very much!
@TomSrOfBoston, it’s a new feature from Discourse called “Heat” indicating how “hot” a thread is.
Not to quibble (as this is minor) but before the upgrade a count of new/unread threads used to be displayed next to each category. That’s gone now. Not critical but it would be a nice-to-have for the next round of changes.
There is a blue dot next to “Latest” to indicate there are unread posts/threads, but none next to “New”, even though when I navigate to the page I see there are two new threads.
I have the count on my devices.
I also have that.
As do I
Not on there. On thread listings. I don’t think we can add the count on that view.
Ok, got it. No problem.
I see that there’s a blue dot next to “Latest” to indicate new activity. Can that be done for “New” as well? If not, no big deal.
Here is what I see. I guess…what’s the point of the color squares???
And some things have squares with two different colors?
@thumper1, you have a different view than me at least. I’ve put in a request to see what’s going on.
