UT Austin Class of 2025 — Regular Decision

Ive only seen 3 liberal arts acceptances and none of them were econ

How can I be sure that my D was put in the right selection pool, in-state non-AA? Her dad is TX resident, active duty military assigned out of state. So she attends an OOS HS. The other schools asked for supporting documentation to prove residency but UT has not.

Thanks! That seems strange if all priority accepts are already out…unless the AAs being pushed to undeclared liberal arts boxed everyone out. Doubt that is the case but who knows

My son and his friend both got in OOS Florida High School, both to McCombs.

I think we have to remember that not all applicants are on cc or Reddit. And some people don’t post, even though they might read. I have been embarrassingly obsessed with this thread but luckily some people don’t ever get on it.

We are in the same boat. Since our son didn’t attend a TX high school, he’s considered OOS for admission but would pay in state tuition once the parents residency is established by providing a copy of their LES.

Good luck!

ya this is my theory. ut technically only needs a 40-45% yield rate, meaning if only 40% of the aa that got stuck with liberal arts undeclared accept the offer then ut is good for enrollment. many aa will do this since ut might be their only financially affordable option, they may still have hope of transferring majors eventually etc.

this means that non aa and oos admit rates for liberal arts are super super low, which also accounts for there barely being any posts about it here or on reddit. its probably the unfortunate reality of the situation.

Same boat for us. We were told she was competing as an OOS student by admissions so we just rolled the dice. But she got in yesterday! Thrilled. Best of luck!

So you’re saying that there’s no admission consideration for TX residents that are stationed OOS? They are then in the OOS pool with non-residents, right? I believe it but it sure doesn’t sound like the right thing to do to TX resident military kids. That’s why I assumed otherwise.

I havent seen any mention of School of Education. My child is still waiting to hear. Does anyone know if ppl have heard from that specific school?

My son applied to School of Education in October… still waiting. We are OOS.

Has anyone heard of chemistry and neuroscience acceptances? I’ve only seen two and I am an in-state non auto who applied priority. I haven’t heard anything and I am praying I get in. I’ve gotten into every great school in Texas (didn’t apply to Trinity or Rice), but i’m still waiting on UT. Just for reference, I got into TCU, SMU, Baylor, A&M, Tech, and State for Chemistry and UofH for Neuroscience. The last three schools are my fall backs.

I have a friend that got accepted OOS yesterday

That’s what we were told! Only graduates of a TX high school are considered in state for admissions :slightly_frowning_face:

Congrats! :tada:

Does UH offer an undergraduate degree in Neuro? I only see a grad program
for it. Is it under Psychology?

I believe so! I wish I had more info to give you, I haven’t paid too much attention to that school as it is pretty much one of my last choices. The campus I wanted didn’t have Chem so I decided to apply for Neuro!

SMU is pretty quick to hear back tbh. I applied late October and heard back in middle December. Probably 4-6 weeks or so. Plus I’m an international so the process might be quicker for US Citizens.

Did they release a lot of RD(non priority) OOS acceptances last night?

Yes, while many (like me) still wait despite applying RD.
