1510 SAT
3.82 UW

Deferred to Engineering Honors, I was about to ask the same thing here.
I wish there was a better practice for kids that ED into other colleges. Found out a couple of kids from school who ED into other schools in Dec and they did not withdraw from UT (and other schools that they applied to), were offered a spot in McCombs yesterday. Since they will definitely not be going to UT, did that not take away some other kids chance ?
Iām sorry if this has been asked⦠for those accepted, do you have a decision letter in your documents yet?
Thatās a new program that just launched this year. It will be very interesting to see how many students take this route and what the experience is like!
Tex Admissions. Heās a previous Admissions Counselor from UT about 10 years ago and has a consulting business. Kind of a god in āthese here parts.ā
I agree. If there is going to be a rule about committing to the ED acceptance and then immediately withdrawing from other schools, it seems the ED school should be responsible to oversee evidence that has been done. Yes, it takes away the chances of other kids because someone gets a NO on their file.
My kid did not apply to the new TW program for two reasons. One, he was not comfortable just heading off around the world for his first Big College semester (he is already a dual credit student with 54 hours). Second, there appeared no clear pathway to his competitive major of ECE. We are now super grateful not to have applied to it, because he did get his major and I have an intuition they could have then given him TW and NOT his major. It seems like yet another way to defer people and guarantee only LArts. Besides, he has all of his basic courses complete. And later in his college career, he can do a study abroad himself, perhaps over a summer.
You will land on your feet, dear! Keep up the good work wherever you goā¦life is a huge stage and you own your part of it!
My kid is in with ECE. His Honors applications are now also deferred. I believe that just means they are now under review because they could not do so until acceptances were sent out. Now, more waitingā¦but happier waiting!!! Congratulations to your son! We are still over the moon here!
Son CAPPED, applied as Infomatics major, school of information. Good luck everyone!
Same here.
DD had a 1600 SAT, 3.93 UW GPA at a competitive Illinois school, solid research experiences at well known unis + labs, several leadership positions
rejected OOS for CS at UTA and worried now that she wonāt get in anywhere b/c she got deferred from her REA (Harvard) as well
The waiting game is tough.
My OOS daughter was admitted last night. Honestly, we were (and are) in a state of shock and are now just coming to terms with how significant this is. She has great grades, super SAT scores, but I think what made her stand out was how she shared her personal story through her essays. We did not hire a consultant but rather had her favorite uncle review her write ups before submitting. She represented her school at Girls State, volunteered to ensure our local food bank had enough food during COVID, is in the BBQ club at school, was involved in athletics and represented the U.S. at the World Scouting Jamboree in South Korea. I would also say that her teachers and guidance counselor fell over themselves to write solid letters of recommendation. I thought this blog write up was interesting. There are hurt feelings and happy faces this morning. I wish everyone well on their college journey. UT-Austin Freshman Applicant Decision Releases and Appeals ā Tex Admissions
