UT Austin Class of 2028 Official Thread

Agree. This hurts other students especially in school like UT which does not do much deferrals and does not have a wait list.

Received email confirmation for Dean’s Scholar Honors this morning. It seems they give honors offer 150 out of 3000 applicants. I am OOS, getting admitted is really hard, with this, that’s crazy! I am so so proud!

Full rides are nice
very nice. Congrats!

Anybody know why my auto admit daughter who got rejected for Comp Sci and therefore is now Liberal Arts Undeclared got “deferred decision” for Polymathic? Wouldn’t she just be automatically rejected from Polymathic since she’s now officially not in School of Natural Sciences? Right? Polymathic is only for Natural Science students? My guess is that those admissions deciders just haven’t X’d her out yet? She’ll get the denial in the coming days? But just thought it was kinda odd to put her as deferred. Anyway

Thanks!
It seems UT loves me, and I love Texas too!

Whoops, meant that to be to the whole group, not a reply to just you, @5qbits, sorry about that.

No problem, I figured :grinning:

Where can I find his contact info?

Texas admissions guy!

Here’s his website if you werent able to find so previously:

The website has a “Contact” tab.

I would think so that they would have taken up spots from others in the same school. The school counselor should have seen to it that they withdraw their applications from other schools once admitted to their EDs.

Man, state schools are brutal if you are applying OOS for CS. I myself got rejected.

for those who got CAP or accepted CAP in prior years - do you know you get to rank locations to indicate your preferred choice #1, #2, etc. or you only get to pick one when you accept and send your contract?

When did your kid interview? Was in back in November or December?

My oos senior received a message in her portal saying that they are still in the process of reviewing her application for her selected major and a decision has not been made yet. She submitted by the 11/1 deadline . Anyone else in this situation?

If her major requires auditions, interviews or portfolios, it’s not unusual to have a delay in admission results.

Yes, I was auto-admit to UT, but not accepted to McCombs. I put my second choice major as Plan II, but was rejected from that as well. They assigned me to undecided liberal arts.

Yes. UT does not reject in-state applicants. They will give you CAP if you are not admitted/ given PACE and are in state, regardless of the strength of your application.

what are the schools for CAP? I’ve heard people mention UT Arlington or UTSA? if UT Austin doesn’t reject any instate applicants does that mean the CAP schools don’t either? So basically anyone instate who applies to UT can get into one of these UT schools?

The CAP schools are:
UT Arlington,
UT El Paso,
UT Permian Basin,
UT Rio Grande Valley,
UT San Antonio, &
UT Tyler

To your question about rejections from CAP schools, each of these institutions has its criteria for admission from the CAP.

If you scroll down a bit, it will show each participating institution and their requirements to get in after being CAPed
